There comes a time in life where you may struggle or you find yourself in a bit of a situation in which your life is in danger. This is one story of such, via a personal tribulation in which I found myself in a situation where my life could very well have been cut short. The most unlikely of sources came to my rescue... Coinbase.
The day in question started off as a rushed one. I had gotten up late at the hotel I had been staying at on vacation in Egypt. The weather was extremely hot and the sun was blazing down - I was due to meet up for a trip out to the Pyramids, and so rushed to get ready without even thinking about anything else. I eventually got ready and dashed out of the hotel to meet up with the day trip folk with moments to spare - phew!
A few hours later we arrived at the awesome sights at Giza. Social Distancing has just started in Europe and it was not long before evacs where about to happen in Egypt... Cram it all in lol.
It had been so hot, 45 degrees celcius, however about one hour into the sight seeing I started to feel light headed... I realised I had not eaten anything and had only drank water since waking up. I had not brough out my insulin either. It was then I noticed I had not brought the correct bank card, it was without funds due to transferring to my other account for bills, and nor had I taken any money from my hotel room... I know what you are thinking... 'what an absolute plank!'
In my defence I had not been used to the condition as I had been diagnosed a few weeks earlier.
I suffer from a medical condition... One you might recognise when I say my blood sugars had gotten so low that I could possibly go into a hypoglycaemic coma. So miles from nowhere I needed sugar and needed it fast. Huge problem was a foreign speaking crowd of people, the excursion leader was not very well educated on my condition and just flapped not knowing what to do. It was then I remembered I had that previous night I had been using the COINBASE App to earn some Cryptocurrency, namely BAT, Stellar and Tezos. This bank card us attached to Coinbase - I had earned around $40 that night I had not transferred to my PayPal Account - and there was an ice-cream seller about 1-yards from me.
I asked the guy at the ice-cream cabin if he had PayPal. Oh my God, he said yes. So I asked if I transferred some money into his PayPal if u could grab some Ice cream and a cold drink as I needed urgent sugar and fluids. He said absolutely no problem, that I could.
Within seconds I transferred the Coinbase funds to my PayPal account and then into the Ice cream sellers account. I was then enjoying some much needed sugar.
In short if it wasn't for Coinbase Earn... I would have been screwed. Thanks Coinbase ??
