Honeygain is one of those applications that let you "share bandwidth to earn extra income".
But how does it exactly work and why does someone pay you for doing virtually no work? Seems somewhat suspicious.
My Experience
I have been using Honeygain for 18 months and have earned approximately 54 dollars. For some, it may be a lot of money, and for some, it's a spare change. I did not notice any strain put upon my computer while sharing the bandwidth for these 18 months, did not receive a subpoena, haven't got raided by police and my internet provider did not contact me to inspect anything.
So my experience is: It's relatively safe. Why relatively? Because you never know. It's always better to be safe than sorry.
Is it worth it? So far yes. Getting 3 extra dollars monthly for nothing is okay with me.

Other Apps that let you share bandwidth
I have tried some of them.
All of them offer 1-3 USD per month.
The ones worth mentioning are:
- This one offers decent gains but is actually the heaviest of all. Unless you own a decent workstation I do not recommend.

- It offers good income, I also cannot say it's light but it's not as heavy as Pawns.

PacketStream - It was not consistent for me so I decided to uninstall it because my workstation was already feeling other installed apps. But it has some explosive gains and it might work for you.

Peer2Profit - So far it's the best one for me after Honeygain. They offer withdrawals in the form of various cryptocurrencies like Ethereum, BNB, and Bitcoin starting from 2 dollars minimum.

Of course, there are many more but the ones I have mentioned are relatively safe and in my case offer a decent per month extra income.
