Happy birthday, Ethereum

Do repost and rate:

The second-largest cryptocurrency in the world turns 8.

Ethereum was conceived in 2013, developed in 2014 and the network went live on July 30, 2015.

On that day, the genesis block was created.

It contained 8,893 transactions sending various amounts to different ETH addresses, and the block reward was 5 ETH.

Which is a good chunk of money at today's rate.

Ethereum is often mentioned in the same conversation as Bitcoin, largely due to the fact that these are the world's largest cryptos by far, but they're actually quite different.

The biggest difference, in my view, is that Ethereum feels like a company, while Bitcoin.

It has a founder, a company-like structure, and it is more centralized than BTC.

What do you think? Is Ethereum really decentralized?
