So Goosedefi just deleted the migrator code in their smart contract, which is code that allows for easy rugs. By deleting this code, Goosedefi has put itself above all other degen farms out there.
Migrator code is code that is inherited all the way from Pancakeswap. That's right, Pancakeswap can rug if it wants. It probably won't, but it can. Forks of Goose will no longer have this ability. That doesn't mean the devs can't rug. There are clandestine ways to rug using multiple wallets, etc., but at least the code won't have this obvious play available.
There has already been one fork of Goose, Viking (https://www.vikingswap.finance/farms) that is going nuts right now. Part of this, I assume, is because the migrator code is not present. It's even outperforming Saltswap, which has much bigger APYs.
This could be a gamechanger depending on the community response.
When I told you guys about Goosedefi at first, I had some guy in the comments poo poo the idea because it was a fork of Pancakeswap. I listed the reasons that didn't matter, and now that perspective is vindicated. Turns out in this open source culture there are more important things to look at than someone who uses open source code to innovate.
So it looks like Goosedefi is innovating, and I'm going to look deeper into their ecosystem. I'm also going to make sure that any yield farm I go in from now on is either a fork of Goose or deletes the migrator code. There's no reason to keep it in now — the precedent has been set.
