For The Birds. NFTs save the world!

Hello All,

Want to collect original art and save the rainforest at the same time?!

Brief:

For The Birds, a series of pixel art featuring birds of the world is being sold to purchase forestland through the World Land Trust. If you're here, you probably know what NFTs are. These will be listed on the WAX blockchain in editions mapped to their endangered status. We're gearing up for EARTH DAY -> MAY DAY Release! FYI, Earth Day is April 22nd.

Who's the Artist?

I'm an artist and technician with an enthusiasm for plants, birds, knitting, whiskey, cute animals, creepy animals, clean code, pixel art, and experimental video games. I'm living on the east coast of the United States and working towards middle class. I believe in an open internet where good information can be found freely, and I want to hike through a cloud forest while they (and I) still exist. -Allen

The Art:

Each bird is created in 128x128 pixels, by hand, using 12 colors. Long live craftsmanship! Pixel art also allows for high resolution with smaller file sizes. This saves on blockchain costs and long-term storage issues.

The Birds:

Birds will be selected from a range of geographies and endangered status. Currently 20 Completed illustrations (plus a few for the second series): See the full collection.

The Editions:

Each bird will be released in a set correlating to it's real world scarcity using the International Union for Conservation of Nature

  • Extinct (EX)                           Only 1 for sale - Not Burnable, and auctioned
  • Extinct in the wild (EW)        Only 2-5 for sale
  • Critically endangered (CR)   Only 6-10 for sale
  • Endangered (EN)                  Only 11-25 for sale
  • Vulnerable (VU)                    Only 26-50 for sale
  • Near threatened (NT)           Only 51-75 for sale
  • Least concern (LC)                 Only 76-100 for sale
    • (LC) Invasive                  150 for sale - Not WAX backed

The first release will be staggered containing 22 cards with at least one from every endangered status above.

There is no plan to incorporate superficial effects to artificially inflate value. Each bird will only be released as an NTF once.

The Money:

Each non-invasive bird is backed by 1 WAX. This means it will have some economic value and will subsidize your purchase (donation).

Extinct birds will be auctioned, but the others will be sold according to scarcity, from 2 WAX (LC) -> 100 WAX (EW)

90% of first sales will be donated (after exchange fees) to the World Land Trust. 10% will be used to continue the project, backing future cards, paying for RAM, etc. I will only get paid a small percentage of secondary sales.

1 Acre of forestland cost 100?. I will make the first donation as soon as we've reached that amount. This way we can have an immediate impact. Future donations will be made to save the most on fees. As long as the minimum 100? is reached, donations will be made regularly, every other month.

Wax is traceable. However, they do not currently accept crypto donations. You will be able to confirm all transactions, until fiat conversion, then I can post proof of donation. I'm in contact, and will be accountable to, their Donor Relations.
