February 2023 Web3 Social Earnings

I had a bang-up January as far as Web3 social media earnings go. I thought I was dreaming. Well, February brought me back to reality.

Here’s what my earnings looked like last month.

I have no idea what I earned in AFIT. I didn’t make a note of my end of month earnings in January and unless I do, it’s a guess. But my earnings in January were 18 cents. I can’t imagine that I did as well as that in February due to fewer days of the month and probably fewer active days since it rained a lot and that cut into my walking.

Actifit isn’t a game changer for me anyway. If I earn anything, I consider it cheesecake.

I made hardly anything on DeSo, through the Diamond App, in February. The only reason it’s on this report is to let you know I’m dropping it.

I’m streamlining my Web3 social media activities considerably and focusing only on those platforms that actually produce a benefit. Right now, that’s not many of them. I may try some new ones from time to time, or play around on some that aren’t my bread and butter, but I’m going to mostly stick to Hive and Publish0x, as those are the platforms that show the most promise and have been steady payers for me.

Cent Pages

Cent Pages is unique among Web3 social platforms. I’ve been posting content to be minted as NFTs for several months. Most of it is free. However, I do have a few pieces that are offered for sale. In February, I earned $1.90 on a $2 NFT. Below are three that for which I’m asking a minimal price:

  1. ETH Has Fallen 15% Since the Merge - Only 4 left to claim at $5 each.

  2. Web3 Social Earnings, January 2023 - Only 18 left to claim at $2 each.

  3.  - “Cigar” is different from most of my content published at Cent Pages. It is an original poem I wrote after returning from Iraq in 2005. I came home in December and wrote the poem in 2006. It was published at The New Verse News in 2008. This is your chance to own a piece of history and a unique creation. Only 9 left to claim for $5 each.

February earnings = $1.90

gFam is the exception to the rule. It’s small but growing and I continue to earn steadily on the platform. The 22 tokens I earned in February are nowhere near the 58.1 I earned in January. Still, not bad. That equates to just over $8, as opposed to January’s $31+.

February earnings (rounded down) = $8.39

I try to power up at Hive whenever I get a chance. That increases my earning potential and keeps me motivated. In January, I earned 12.298 in HIVE tokens and 20.094 in Hive-backed dollars (HBD). That’s not counting the $8.34 in interest I earned in my HBD savings account. My total earnings for the month was $34.589367, beating my gFam earnings of $31.2541418.

The only thing I can figure accounting for my huge drop in Hive earnings is a change I made in auto-voting. In January, I set my auto-votes for certain curation trails I follow to fixed voting weight. In February, I changed them to scaled voting weight.

Here’s the difference: If the curation trail you follow votes 50% of its voting weight and you have your auto-vote settings on fixed voting weight at 50%, then your votes account for 50% of your own voting weight. On the other hand, if you have your auto-vote settings at scaled voting weight, then your votes will only register at 50% of the curation trail’s voting weight; if the curation trail you follow votes at 50%, then your voting weight will be at 25%.

Scaled voting weight preserves your resource credits, which is the energy you have available for posting to the blockchain, based on your Hive Power. While fixed voting weight means you can earn more based on your auto-votes, it does drain your resource credits faster. So it can present a management problem, especially if you post a lot to the blockchain.

I’ve decided I’m going to switch back to fixed voting and see how it does in March. I currently follow these curation trails:

  • Cryptoctopus

  • Coolcurator

  • Travelfeed

My earnings for February were 4.476 HIVE tokens and 0.718 HBD. That translates into $2.027628 in HIVE and $0.701486 in HBD. Plus, I earned my $5.355 in HBD savings account.

Another thing that affects earnings is the price of HIVE and HBD. Fluctuations can lead to more or less earnings depending on the market price of the cryptocurrencies throughout the month. My February earnings equal $8.084114.

February earnings (rounded down) = $8.08

Publish0x

I continue to be happy with my PUBLISH0X earnings. They’ve been steady. I can have a good or bad month on another platform and Publish0x pretty much delivers consistently. No major ups or downs.

My AMPL earnings for February were 2.9526. My ETH earnings were 0.00192966. And I earned 6.3648 SPOT.

These numbers translate into $2.99, $3.14, and $7.26, respectively.

February earnings = $13.39

Read.Cash

I quit posting to Noise.App in February because there just wasn’t any traction. My READ.CASH earnings in January were $4.33, but that was mostly the Random Rewarder bot. In February, I earned a penny.

I’m seriously thinking of saying goodbye to Read.Cash just because nothing is going on there these days. I tried to post on Wednesday and couldn’t access any of the community pages for posting. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Read.Cash disappear altogether.

February earnings = $.01

I’d like to be more consistent at Torum, but I’m not. For some reason, I just can’t force myself to pay the site a visit every day. I am missing out on some daily rewards and the resultant weekly rewards.

In February, I earned 18.25 tokens versus 36 in January. That translates into $0.447125 in February versus $0.77904 in January.

February earnings (rounded down) = $.45

I’ve already announced that Coil is sunsetting its protocol. I’ll continue earning from my monetized properties until March 10. In February, I earned 5 cents. It was 10 cents in January.

February earnings = $.05

Presearch has been another consistent earner for me. I earned 30.14 PRE tokens in February versus 29.9 tokens in January. February earnings, in USD, were $1.8936962. I expect, some time in the middle of this year, to reach 1,000 PRE, which will allow me some flexibility in whether to cash out or do something else with those earned PRE.

February earnings = $1.89

My total Web3 social media earnings for February were less than half my January earnings, but I’m remaining optimistic for the rest of the year.

TOTAL EARNINGS FOR FEBRUARY 2023 = $34.17
