Exploring cheating mechanisms in Discord gaming

Can a game be more than just a good time? Could it not only entertain you but also stretch your boundaries, offer learning opportunities and put your abilities to the test?

?? A Note on Ethics: This exploration of game mechanics serves an educational purpose. Always prioritize and respect any game's terms of service (as well as Discord’s TOS) and consider the community's spirit. Authentic skill and interactions remain irreplaceable.

I always loved seeing the possibilities new technology had and enjoyed learning about them, and that fascination would often get the better of me. However, my curiosity about technology's possibilities often overtook me. A simple challenge from a friend about the complexities of learning Python and automating a Discord game lit a fire in me. The challenge was not about proving a point or being better than others. But meeting our basic needs opened the door to achieving more. Having invested heavily in both time and resources, my love for games on the blockchain is undeniable.

Games on the blockchain brilliantly mesh tactics, talent and a sense of community via their lively digital characters. As someone who jumped in post skill enhancement nerfs, the quest wasn't merely about enhancing gameplay. In my quest to level up with pro gamers, I stumbled upon the power that game automation can unlock.

The allure of a "God Mod" in blockchain games

Without cheat codes or known exploits, blockchain games presented a unique challenge. What would it mean to play these games at a "god mod” level? It would signify navigating through its intricate challenges, making the most optimal decisions, with little to no human oversight.

The path to mastery

I first started by exploring how I could automate interactions on Discord, which is pivotal in many blockchain games. Various approaches emerged:

The clicker approach: This involves setting up a rudimentary automatic clicker that sends a message at regular intervals. This is basic and works where the gameplay is repetitive. But if events require reactions? It's not up to the task.

The Discord bot: This would offer a intelligent approach, analyzing and reacting based on data. But there's a catch — you can't generate tokens for a bot on a server you don’t own.

Now, one might think that these are the only feasible methods. However, no straightforward tool exists to extract and act upon data from Discord. But an epiphany came in the form of Discord's web version. If the data is displayed, it can be mined! Given this revelation, a third, more flexible possibility exists:

: A script that scours various Discord channels for data, processes it, and then decides the next course of action based on this.

Crafting my God mod

Deep diving into the automation nuances revealed the multifaceted layers:

  • Send messages: The heart of automation. With many games' command-line nature, understanding how to locate the input field, interact (type and send messages) becomes essential.
  • Read the current cooldown: While many channels have fixed cooldowns, others vary based on different triggers, some known, some not. Therefore, reading the current cooldown becomes crucial for efficient action sequencing.
  • Update the cooldown: Stemming from personal experience more than a strict requirement. A discrepancy in displayed vs. actual cooldowns led to strategizing cooldown synchronization for precision. Moreover, due to a bug, if a channel's cooldown changes, the display instantly shifts to the new cooldown even if the old cooldown was still active.
  • Extract command results: The most intricate aspect. This required knowing how to effectively organize data, methods for extraction, interpretation, and usage of it. Once mastered, the game's automation boundaries are limitless.
  • Navigate the server: If the aim is full automation, navigating the in-game world is pivotal. And on top of all that was understanding how I could switch channels using commands while still being able to manage timers in different rooms. For instance, one might play at night with a 6-hour timer and do other things in a specific location in a loop during the day.
  • Manage break periods: Let's face it: this is more about cheating than automation. Many players play honestly. Game Masters have therefore installed logs to detect unusual behavior (like playing 24/7). To stay under the radar, scripts must occasionally "sleep" to mimic offline periods. If this sleep cycle is dynamic, it's even better, as opposed to halting the script daily from 10 pm to 6 am.
  • Understand every location: A culmination of all previous points. Once all the above is assimilated, the possibilities stretch out endlessly. The only prerequisite is understanding new events or activities. If you grasp what's happening, automation becomes second nature.

Final reflections

Embarking on this journey was more than just game automation. But creativity is hard when you're struggling to survive. The tantalizing promise? A gameplay experience mirroring omnipotence.
