Exorde: a list of tips for spotting fake news

In 2017, the compilers of the Collins Dictionary of the English Language recognized the phrase fake news as the word of the year. In this dictionary, "fake news" is defined as false, often sensational, information spread under the guise of news reports. According to the compilers of this dictionary, over the past year, the frequency of use of this expression has increased by 365%. Much of this popularity of the phrase is due to Donald Trump, who often uses it in his speeches.

"Post-truth" and "fake news" have practically become trends in popular culture.

Who is guilty? And what to do?

In recent years, the idea of ??responsibility for news content has become a major requirement for both individuals and states in a state of information war.

As a rule, structures of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are engaged in the fight against fake news that discredits the state. For example, on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in the section "Press Service/Refutations" you can find the section "Examples of publications replicating false information about Russia." Also, demands to combat fake content were made against Facebook, Goggle, Twitter and other major social networks and news platforms.

To block dubious news, first of all, fact-checking technologies are used. These are fact checks through an additional editorial control department on reader complaints. Facebook has hired four companies, Snopes, Politifact, ABC News and FactCheck.org, to manually check the accuracy of news that appears in the feed.

In addition, Facebook has been criticized for the so-called "information bubbles". This is a consequence of the algorithms used, thanks to which the feed is structured, and users see only the content that is already consistent with their beliefs. This is actually a serious problem, because. having fixed any of your opinions once, the system will then continue to give you information confirming it. As a result of the criticism, "Facebook's algorithm has been adjusted to display even more posts from friends and family in the feed, to the detriment of information from other channels, including the media."

The website Wikipedia, the information on which experts do not attribute to reliable sources, has launched the WikiTribune project, which aims to expose fake news on the Internet.

The spread of fake news is also clearly criminal in nature. “In June 2017, Trend Micro published a study indicating that the dissemination of fake (fake) news has become a service that cybercriminals are willing to provide. A whole market has formed where there are more or less standard prices for the implementation of information manipulation campaigns. The authors of the study advise users to be attentive to all information, even from serious and respected sources.

In terms of recommendations to users, Facebook has been advertising a list of tips for identifying fake news in the major British newspapers The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph and The Times for several years now. They are:

- treat headlines with skepticism;

- carefully look at the URL;

- look for the original source;

— pay attention to unusual formatting;

- pay attention to the photos;

- check the dates;

- check the evidence;

- look for other posts on the topic;

Is this story a joke?

- some fake notes are deliberate satire.

However, are people always ready to check what they are offered as news or other interesting and useful information?

Groups of scholars studying the phenomenon of fake news and post-truth at American and British universities offer different ways to solve this problem, which, in general, can be reduced to one thing - to develop and provide users with resources that allow them to do their own fact checking.

An ecosystem called Exorde is built around a core platform that provides objective assessments of trust in information based on a community and an artificial intelligence module. The idea of ??the project is to track the spread of information across the entire Internet network in real time. The goal of the project is to find the source of viral information in its original form, before this information becomes viral.

Exorde is run by its DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) and uses community votes and polls. Management will be decentralized among all members of the community. Collectively, they will be able to change the internal rules and parameters of the systems (rewards, limits, delays, scheduling, etc.) and will have a built-in reputation system. These mechanisms are designed to continually align the interests of the community and its governance for the benefit of Exorde.

The Exorde Work Systems are the core component and will serve as the base layer for the entire ecosystem. Exorde is based on four main parameter:

Ethereum is an open source platform that allows developers to create and deploy decentralized applications on it.

Skale SKALE is an elastic sidechain network connected to the Ethereum chain, acting as an execution layer. It is a scalable and elastic environment that provides high transaction throughput.

Filecoin is a decentralized data storage system that intends to replace the expensive and inefficient servers of Google and Amazon.

NLP is an artificial intelligence module that will work with unstructured text.

Also, the Exorde Labs team is proud to announce the launch of Testnet. We are now at the point where Testnet is open to anyone who wants to download the open source modules and participate! This phase includes more detailed web panels showing blocks of data being mined on the Exorde network, the number of free and employed workers, protocol details with additional statistics, URLs, and more. A little later, a new version will appear: Testnet v0.2, with improved staking mechanisms, rewards and dynamic protocol settings. Constant improvements, the most advanced web scraping modules! The end of summer is September.
