Sky Mavis, the company behind the Ethereum-based collectibles game Axie Infinity, is making a major push to improve the title, starting with its character art.

The team revealed on Tuesday that they have deployed a number of visual upgrades to “Mystic” Axie parts, the rarest character components in the game. According to the announcement, the decision to improve Mystic parts was made to further distinguish the ultra-rare Axies from the rest of the game’s units.

“Some Mystic parts were not clearly distinguishable from their ‘normal’ counterparts so we’ve refined the art for them to make sure our collectors have the truly special Axies they deserve,” stated the team.

In addition to the improvements to Mystic Axies, the following visual changes have been made:

  • Improved Fuzzy’s visuals
  • Improved Big Yak’s animation
  • Improved Big Yak’s braid coloring
  • Improved Wet Dog’s braid coloring
  • Increased Axie border-color contrast

This news comes several days after Axie Infinity released a major update to its marketplace, which brought all of the game’s NFTs to a single platform, including Axies, Land and items. The update also added improved filtering, with categories for Axies that include stats, breed-count and body parts.

Sky Mavis recently raised $1.5 million from several investors including Hashed, Pangea Blockchain Fund, ConsenSys and 500 Startups.
