Testing a Different Bot
I continue my experiments looking for a decent system to make use of my collection on Splinterlands, but without having to play.
After a disappointing last season, the current one seemed destined to end no better, with my account stuck in the Bronze League II... far from the results that would be achievable with my collection, which, though modest, is still fit to play comfortably in the Silver League.
Hence, I finally resolved to run a new test, taking advantage of the free 7-day trial period offered by to try a different bot, a paid one this time, so I could see for myself the differences, if any.
And what can I say other than that the differences were so obvious that, within hours of starting the test, I was already unable to stop myself from coming to write this post?
They say that quality comes at a price, and in this case I shall say that it clearly is: in a couple of hours Xbot consumed almost all my energy gaining over 1100 rating points, bringing me from Bronze League II to the threshold of Silver League I, grinding out win after win and making the most of my collection, Rewards Soulbound and Gladius cards included!
I was literally amazed at the incredible efficiency and strength of this bot.... no wonder so many players make use of it, especially at the higher levels!
At the same time, I am also astonished at how SPLINTERLANDS could tolerate such an incredibly strong and completely passive game system in all this time. I have always agreed with @libertycrypto27@lozio71 on the harmfulness of bots, but after trying a "top" one I can say that probably neither they nor I even dreamed of how skilled they could be.
My collection is barely decent: it lacks so many legendary cards from the Chaos Legion set and doesn't have a single card from the other sets playable in the Modern format, with the exception of the newer Rewards cards. It also has only 2 maximum level Summoners for the Silver League and only a few creatures capable of fully leveraging them.
Yet, as it was, the bot slaughtered its opponents, winning 41 out of 45 games... given a more complete collection, how far could it have gone? I already knew that some bots even managed to place in the end-of-season Leaderboards, but I didn't expect that even those purchasable on Hive-Engine with $20 or so could do it...
Now I understand why, in the end, I completely lost the will to play: with thousands of bots like this around in the matchmaking, is it really so surprising that so many new - and old - players completely lost their will to play?
Soon bots will finally be banned from the Modern format: my hope is that this first action will not come too late, although it is clear how bots, by this point, have already done so much damage, so much that we probably don't even realize.

Un Altro Bot Messo alla Prova
Proseguono i miei esperimenti alla ricerca di un sistema decente per sfruttare la mia collezione su Splinterlands, ma senza dover giocare.
Dopo la scorsa deludente stagione, quella attuale non sembrava destinata a finire meglio, con il mio account fermo alla Lega Bronzo II... ben lontano dai risultati che sarebbero raggiungibili con la mia collezione che, per quanto modesta, e comunque adatta a giocare tranquillamente nella Lega Argento.
Ecco che, quindi, mi sono finalmente deciso a condurre un nuovo test, sfruttando il periodo di prova gratuito di 7 giorni offerto dal sito per provare un bot diverso, uno a pagamento questa volta, cosi da poter vedere con i miei occhi le eventuali differenze.
E cosa dire se non che le differenze sono state cosi evidenti che, a poche ore dall'inizio del test, gia non sono piu stato in grado di trattenermi dal venire a scrivere questo post?
Si dice che la qualita si paghi, ed in questo caso direi che e chiaramente cosi: in un paio d'ore Xbot ha consumato quasi tutta la mia energia guadagnando oltre 1100 punti di rating, portandomi dalla Lega Bronzo II alle soglie della Lega Argento I, macinando vittorie su vittorie e sfruttando al meglio la mia collezione, carte Rewards Soulbound e Gladius comprese!
Sono rimasto letteralmente meravigliato di fronte all'incredibile efficienza e forza di questo bot... ci credo che cosi tanti giocatori ne fanno uso, soprattutto ai livelli piu alti!
Al contempo sono anche esterrefatto di come Splinterlands abbia potuto tollerare in tutto questo tempo un sistema di gioco completamente passivo cosi incredibilmente forte: sono sempre stato d'accordo con @libertycrypto27@lozio71 nella dannosita dei bot, ma dopo averne provato uno "top" posso dire che probabilmente ne io ne loro ci sognavamo neanche lontanamente quanto potessero essere abili.
La mia collezione e a malapena decente: manca di tantissime carte leggendarie del set Chaos Legion e non ha nemmeno una carta degli altri set giocabili nel formato Modern, con l'eccezione delle carte Rewards piu recenti. Inoltre conta solo 2 Evocatori di livello massimo per la Lega Argento e solo alcune creature capaci di sfruttarli a pieno.
Eppure, gia cosi, il bot ha massacrato gli avversari, vincendo 41 partite su 45... con una collezione piu completa, fin dove sarebbe potuto arrivare? Sapevo gia che alcuni bot riuscivano addirittura a piazzarsi nelle Leaderboard di fine stagione, ma non credevo che ci riuscissero anche quelli acquistabili su Hive-Engine con 20 dollari o poco piu...
Ora capisco come mai, alla fine, la voglia di giocare mi sia passata completamente: con migliaia di bot come questo presenti a giro nel matchmaking, e davvero cosi sorprendente che tanti nuovi - e vecchi - giocatori abbiano perso completamente la voglia di giocare?
A breve i bot saranno finalmente banditi dal formato Modern: la mia speranza e che questo primo intervento non arrivi troppo tardi, anche se e evidente come i bot, ormai, di danni ne hanno fatti davvero tanti, cosi tanti che, probabilmente, nemmeno ce ne rendiamo conto.
