The number of computer game users in the world has grown since the beginning of 2020 by almost 50% against the backdrop of the coronavirus infection pandemic. As reported on Thursday by Yonhap, such data is contained in a report by Unity Technologies, a company specializing in the development of gaming content.
“The number of active gamers playing on computers or consoles increased by 46% from January to May compared with the same period last year,” the report said. The number of mobile game users increased by 17%.
It is noted that before the pandemic, this figure was about 13% and began to grow sharply in March, when many countries began to introduce a quarantine regime.
“More and more people are starting to play computer games, and spend more time on them every day - at the weekend level before the pandemic,” the report says. It also indicates that the number of downloads of mobile applications in the specified period increased by a record 84%.
