It is a feature whereby you directly message another user privately. This conversation is strictly between the two people involved.
Why Direct Message?
- To inquire something you may not know of the site in question. Sometimes if you ask in a group,you may look uninformed. A one-to-one answer is more appropriate.
- To be able to know more about the writer and where they come from. Sometime because of the posts they write, you may be interested to learn more about a person and where they come from. Direct messaging (D.M) is very important.
- To appreciate the other person. Sometimes a person writes posts that have really helped you. You feel obliged just to say thank you. It is more appropriate to do it in the inbox. D.M becomes the best option.
- An extension of the comments. One may need to say more rather than the few comments in the comment box. Direct Messaging (DM) becomes the order of the day.
Misuse Of DM
- Some abusive people may go to inbox just to provoke others to fights.
- Some use inbox for harassment and sexual advances which are bad to the site.
- DM may be an intrusion to a person's privacy.
- At times it is a deviation to what our main purpose in the site is.
- DMs may be uncontrollable.
Do We Have DM in Publish0x?
I have not encountered any DM in Publish0x. Do you think it is a feature that can be added? Is it worth the salt?
