Web security firm Cloudfare has partnered with Ethereum Name Service, according to a blog post published on Jan. 13. The result of the partnerships is a distributed web gateway.
- ENS will transfer its ENS + IPFS gateway service from eth.link to a distributed gateway built by Cloudfare
- The Cloudfare team notes that a distributed web gateway means locally verifiable data, built-in history, and have no single trust anchor i.e. better security and privacy
- The two companies have been working together in the past year to develop the solution that lets users access IPFS sites like a regular website
- ENS reached out to Cloudfare because they wanted the latter’s help in creating reliable infrastructure, while the team focuses on developing ENS itself
