CageChain Newsletter #137 | DeFi Mergers, State of Blockchain Governance, Crypto Carbon and More...

Happy Holiday wishes from all of us at CageChain!  There has been a scurry of recent "mergers" in the DeFi space which may cause concern to some, but for fans of the teams and projects involved there is a consensus that this will be a good thing for the space.  According to an article in this week's newsletter from Decrypt, Yearn Finance and SushiSwap have announced plans to closely collaborate, share resources, and build better services for both protocols. Yearn has announced a flurry of similar collaborations in recent days, pooling resources from different corners of the DeFi ecosystem. Not quite mergers or acquisitions, the collaborative activity is showing the outline for the DeFi industry's future.  In other news from the "Cowboy State," The University of Wyoming has recently opened its Center for Blockchain and Digital Innovation. Only a handful of universities in the country have this kind of center, and UW hopes this will help to diversify the state's economy.  Lastly, in enviromental blockchain news from Coindesk, the Universal Protocol Alliance, a coalition of blockchain companies led by Uphold and including Bittrex Global, Ledger, Certik and Infinigold, announced the Universal Carbon (UPCO2) token Tuesday.

Join us on Tuesday December 8th from 9am to 3pm PT for the first virtual (e) Governance Focused Conference presented by the Governance Research institute.  Here are some of the speakers and panelists involved in next week's conference:

Many blockchain based projects have governance tokens, and many decentralized organizations provide the community with the ability to make proposals and vote. Do governance tokens provide a project’s community with a sufficient voice to change the direction of a project? Would decentralized organizations be able to sufficiently manage their organizations? Is consensus governance? In short, how do we use blockchain and emergent technologies to make organizations more efficient? To learn more, sign up today on governanceresearch.institute/conference!
