Writing ever day isn't going to be easy. There are many times that you are looking at the screen with nothing in your head wondering where you are going to go with this. That dancing curser mocking you while you try to bring thoughts to the surface and get them out for the world to see.
The struggle is real and it’s one that I knew would hit me hard while trying to write 500 words a day. I wrote yesterday about turning up every day.
First in, last out. It sounds great in theory but it is a mentally draining task, especially at the beginning. Forming good habits will take time so it’s very important to keep up posting daily no matter how hard that feels.
There are always excuses not to do it.
Having a busy at work.
Watching something on the tv.
Friends, family, jobs ect...
All valid if slightly weak excuses. We all carry around a phone in our pockets and while it’s slightly more awkward if you really want to make that post. You will make it. You will make the
Today was a very busy day for me. At the moment I am on a two week holiday from work. While that is lovely and it is great to have that time to clear my head and get away from work after a very busy corona related surge in shoppers.
It has not however been a quiet time for me. It has been a constant rush from one place to the next and lots happening. I spend last week with my family for a few days.
Then with my girlfriend for a few days. After that, trying to finish my garden that has been stalled by the weather and then down to my parent for the past couple of days.
It was great to be down home for the past couple of days but it has taken me away from my computer which makes everything more difficult. Luckily, I made my daily post early in the morning as I knew I would be gone away from my home.
Today then the weather was brilliant for the first time in a long time. The sun was shining and I was able to get out for a game of golf with my oldest friend. I don’t get to see him much anymore so when we do meet up there is a good catch up and fall back into the old habits. He is one of the few people that I let in so it’s great to have that time to talk.
After those first 9 holes I had a coffee and went for a second round with my dad and a couple of other friends. The sun was shining and we had a nice round together.
From there it was a rush to have my dinner and on the road again to see my girlfriend for an hour. After that I had to pick up two of the guys for my first game of football in 4 months. All of this has added up to a hectic day and I’m now sitting here at half past eleven struggling through my daily post.
These are the hard yards when the mind is empty and the body is tired. These are the important ones to get finished as they will stand to you in the long run when you get to the stage that posting daily is a habit rather than a struggle.
This is me saying that I will keep going and improve. My consistency and my quality. Hopefully These will both improve over time.
