Developers are creating a fork of Brave, after the blockchain-based browser loses the trust of many users over the weekend.

The decentralized browser that preaches the freedom of choice of its users was put in the spotlight when they noticed that BRAVE has redirected its users to cryptocurrency companies with affiliate links that guarantee commission to the browser. Among them are Binance, COINBASE and Trezor.

The subject was the subject of much discussion on social networks and the company apologized on Tuesday (9) and said that this will stop happening, in addition to promising that it does not compromise the user's privacy or reveal their information. However, user revolt has prompted developers to decide to fork the browser.

As Decrypt pointed out, a group of developers created a community to create an alternative version of Brave without affiliate links, adware and even the Basic Attention Token (BAT), which rewards users who choose to watch ads.

Dubbed the “Braver Browser”, or “Bravest Browser”, in literal translation, the alternative was announced on June 6 and on Monday (8) the team presented a test version without the affiliate links.

According to the Braver team, the full release will remove all adware.

For Eich, CEO of the official version of the browser, the job will not be easy.

They will have to rename, also perform various services and updates on their own. There is no lift on our servers ” he declared.

In April 2019, the social media platform Gab also forked Brave to distribute its BAT token on Bitcoin's Lightning Network.
