As a long-time BRAVE Browser user, I have been extremely happy with how they have handled their development and the issues that have arisen with ad revenue due to COVID. The pandemic though helped lead to some big milestones for the development team. Brave has hit 25 million Monthly Active Users (MAU) and over 8 million Daily Active Users (DAU). While some things have been added some have also been discontinued like the amazing referral program. This map for the next 12-18 months continues Brave adding more and more exciting news!
The Brave team is gearing up to launch an Etherum based Brave Wallet. This wallet will be the foundation for the new crypto and DeFi applications they plan on releasing! Initially, the wallet will replace the Existing Crypto wallets in Brave, have both mobile and desktop support, and have options to buy crypto via fiat payment like credit/debit cards among other features! A huge feature they hope to add is utilizing BAT earned through Brave Rewards to pay transaction fees which with Ethereum fees being as crazy as they are we all could use!
Brave is also gearing up to launch its own DEX which will have huge added value for Brave/Bat users like discounts when utilizing BAT for paying transaction fees, discounts for users that hold BAT balances in their wallet, and multi-chain support for different assets and blockchains. Future ideas include things like layer 2 solutions to enable people to interact with DeFi for as little as $1 in BAT.
Brave is also continuing to invest and build out a decentralized web with BAT utility for search engines, use in e-commerce, VPN, and various private communication platforms. Rewards also being issued for content verified on IPNS and the ability to use BAT for context pinning on IPFS!
Obviously, this is a lot of info and the blog has even more listed I just wanted to get the big ideas they hope to bring about in the next 12-18 months! The amount of users is going up and with that businesses are also spending more and more on advertising leading to an overall increase in BAT distribution! The way the development team has navigated the COVID crisis leads me to believe that this is just the tip of the iceberg of what they are going to deliver within the next 18 months. This team has been able to continue to produce and push forward which one has to be impressed with.
