If this is your first time reading a BRAVE Beta post from me I have the Brave Browser for the iPhone while I also have the Beta version where they are constantly rolling out and trying new things. The Beta version does not get anywhere near the number of ads that the regular does but I would imagine they throttle them back a lot as they want you to focus more on the app and how it functions. The most recent version that they released was from yesterday and I have used it for a couple of hours and it seems to continue to build upon what the last couple releases have shown. Giving that it is a release candidate I really am excited with some of the features they have added.
The biggest and easily the most important addition is the newsfeed that appears when you open a new tab. While as of now it is not as specific as I would like and actually sometimes misses bug breaking news it is a really solid start. It is not limited to just crypto news it covers everything from pop-culture to sports. It pulls articles from all of the major websites that I know of from CNN, VOX, People, Fox News, Coin Desk, etc., It does not have an opt-in/out a feature like I would have expected, but it does have a whole thing talking about how and where they collect your data.
I would expect that if this does come to the mobile app it will have the opt-out ability. Since it is a Beta version though and this is the big new thing they want us to use it and so we do not have the ability to opt-out which is fair enough. I have a feeling that this inability to opt-out is a reason why the articles typically found are pretty bland and not some breaking news or new announcement. As I have grown up calling it it's pretty vanilla. The idea seems to be though to replace something like Google News in my opinion and it definitely shows promise plus if it can protect your data as opposed to Google's free for all it an easy win-win!
This update though still does not show any development on the linking of the mobile wallet to your uphold one. This is a big-time feature wanted by everyone since our BAT is currently stuck on the mobile web browser. I believe that this lack of connection is linked with the current fight Apple and Epic Games are having as the Brave Browser team definitely does not want to get charged 30% off the top so the BAT's are stuck until the court hopefully hammers something out between Apple and Epic. I did find a bug though as when I would go into the settings and try to mess with the rewards setting the app would immediately crash. I reported this bug to the team so hopefully, they can stamp it out real quick and when the Uphold connection arrives we can all easily access it!
