Some of the world’s leading crypto-artists join forces together with the David Bowie Estate to bring the icon?s legacy to OPENSEA on September 13. The collection is called ‘Bowie On The Blockchain’ and the effort is led by creative executive and artist manager Andrew D. Keller and Joaquin Acrich’s Web3 company, We Love The Arts.

Bowie?s widow, Iman, is the Global Advocate of CARE- a humanitarian organization that will receive all the benefits from sales related to Bowie?s NFT Collection. This is not the first time we have seen music icons using NFTs for charity purposes, Madonna launched her ?Mother Of Creation? NFT collection on OpenSea, made by Beeple with the proceeds from their sale going directly to initiatives supporting children.
Who are the artists behind the Bowie NFT Collection?
The upcoming collection is regarded as unique because it will be the result of a creative process involving several artists, each with their own particular style. Among some of the most known names is Victor Langlois, better known as FEWOCiOUS, a young queer digital artist using art as an alternate form of journaling and as a way to process growing up in a non-supportive household.
Another interesting name is Osinachi. He is a young successful Nigerian digital artist and the first African artist to have his work digitally auctioned as an NFT by Christie’s in Europe.

Philanthropy via NFTs can be done in many ways. Pussy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova, who is also one of the artists involved in the Bowie NFT Collection, created the decentralized organization UkraineDAO to aid victims of the war in Ukraine.
Tolokonnikova also collaborated in Salem Ilese?s NFT drop “Crypto Boy,” as an NFT to support women’s reproductive freedom. It features her artwork on the NFT Music Marketplace .
