The blockchain-powered online multiplayer game Blankos Block Party will launch its Ethereum bridge, various social features, and gameplay improvement before the end of June. Mythical Games, the developers behind the party game, revealed these and more in their updated roadmap for the rest of 2022.
According to the official announcement, the second quarter of 2022 will be the busiest time for the developers of Blankos Block Party. Between April and the end of June, the team expects to release numerous usability improvements to the platform. These include an essential onboarding update and an Ethereum bridge that will help players move around assets easily.
The rest of 2022 will allow the Blanks team to focus on the NFT side of the game. They plan to introduce NFT lifecycle systems, which will increase the scarcity and demand for Blankos NFT collections. Additionally, the team will improve the metadata systems behind their NFT drops.
Of course, as the team progresses with achieving roadmap milestones, more information and details will be shared with the Blankos community. Still, this is an important step towards engaging players and offering them a glimpse into the game’s future.
What is Blankos Block Party?
Blankos Block Party is a fun, open-world multiplayer game designed like a giant block party. Players get to use different Blankos characters to complete various challenges and missions. These earn the players points, which translates to the in-game currency Moola. Furthermore, players can earn NFT assets through gameplay efforts, effectively creating value by spending time in the game world.
Blankos characters can be customized with variable accessories and add-ons, each of them being an NFT. One of the more notable collaborative projects was the Blankos x Burberry characters NFT collection, which sold out in seconds last year. However, it’s important to note that NFTs are not required to play the game. Anybody is free to get started.
Aside from playing and unlocking rewards, Blankos Block Party features another community-focused mechanic: user-generated content. One of the central premises of the Blankos Block Party platform is that players get a chance to create the experience they seek. Players can design their Parties, featuring many gaming modes including shooting, racing, or collection style challenges. What’s more, creators can combine all three of these. With the 2022 roadmap, it is not farfetched to suspect some gameplay improvements will bring new game modes to the Party builder.
How is Blankos different?
Blankos Block Party runs on a private blockchain, but the team at Mythical Games has plans to open things up. You can see this on the roadmap with the introduction of the Ethereum bridge. What makes Blankos stand out from the crowd is that it first and foremost simply is a video game. Everybody can enjoy Blankos or make mini-games without having to worry about NFTs or play-to-earn mechanics.

Even though the game is still in development, Mythical announced 1 million registered players back in December. Even if only 10% would play the game on a monthly basis, that would put Blankos straight into the top 10 blockchain games.

Most of those games rely on repetitive mechanics, more akin to ‘gold farming’ in traditional games. We often describe this product category as GameFi or gamified DeFi. However, there’s an industry-wide desire to create high-quality games. Importantly, these projects aim to compete in terms of fun and engagement with products like Super Mario and Assassin’s Creed.
Trading card game Splinterlands performs very well with over 500,000 active users per month. Similarly, the tower defense mobile game Crazy Defense Heroes attracts 206,000 unique active wallets. Like Axie Infinity and REVV Racing, these games are the first steps in the right direction. Blankos should definitely be mentioned alongside these pioneering games.
