Axie Infinity (AXS) cryptocurrency ‘took off’ 7,277% in 2021 and should go further after the event that will take place in August
This token is part of a still new class in the cryptocurrency universe, which is called NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens). Initially, it was created to serve as a “buy and sell currency” for the Axie Infinity game, which I'll explain in more detail later on. However, it turned out to be serious… Currently, investors all over the world are eyeing the absurd upside potential that the AXS carries.
This cryptocurrency became a “star” in recent months. I'm talking about the Axie Infinity token, better known as AXS, which went beyond the barriers of virtual games to become the most promising cryptoactive of the year. From January 1, 2021 until now, it has gained 7,277%, going from US$0.59 at the beginning of the year to US$43.53 as of this writing.
And no wonder: the token has even left the performance of solid projects, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, “too bad”. To give you an idea, they have gained 36% and 226% respectively, while the AXS has appreciated more than the two together in just one month: from July 1st to July 30th, they were 680% upside.
The game Axie Infinity takes place in a "metaverse" (fictional virtual universe) inspired by the famous video game Pokemon and basically works the same way: there, users can capture and battle with small digital creatures, which are nicknamed "axies". However, there is a difference: in this new game, the blockchain is used to reward players for contributions to the system, in a model called “play to earn”.
In other words, the game has become an internet sensation by paying users to play. To give you an idea, there are players who have already earned the amount of R$ 12,500 in a month with a subsidy from the Axie Infinity platform. That was the case of Isnaylha Lima, who managed to earn R$ 417.50 in 1h30 of the game even with little experience.
The Axie Infinity “metaverse” underwent consistent growth throughout 2021, which is evidenced by the number of transactions and active users. Currently, there are more than 90 thousand ETH in its marketplace, which has more than 250 thousand active users per day:
