At the end of last month, BRAVE released some big news. Their wallet program now has 75 DApp partners with another 15 new projects joining in November. As expected, the DApps that have joined cover a wide array of different applications, but two DApps in particular stuck out. In this most recent round of partnerships both 1INCH and Plaid were announced and these are two big catches with 1inch being a well-known DEX and Plaid a fintech powerhouse. Other partners that were announced were Allbridge, Autofarm, Based, Cardinal, Coral Cube, EYWA, Guild, Hyperspace, Matrica, Morpho, Tectonic, Plaid, Project DARA, and Quest3.
That was not all though as on December 1st they announced two additional things with Brave News that were pretty big developments themselves. First and foremost Brave News added additional features to allow users to customize their feeds and added support for this new feed to Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Spain, and the UK. Even though I use Brave News it is now something that I use first and foremost rather it is a news agitator I use after I hit my normal outlets. Giving credit where credit is due Brave News does a really fantastic job of finding other news stories that are often overlooked and not the headliners. Adding additional support to more regions in North America, South America, and Europe shows that there is demand out there that Brave is trying to reach.
For Brave Users who also use Brave Search, there is a big change/announcement on that front. Brave has integrated clearly labeled and privacy-preserving ads. These ads are clearly marked and while I am sure we would all like to not have any of them at all it does make sense that Brave is adding them with the current economic downturn and cuts to both advertising and crypto investments. Brave still does allow users to get out of the ads however it does come with a $ 3-a-month fee and is called Search Premium. On the plus side for Brave users, they are working towards integrating earning BAT for when you see these ads but that function is not available yet since it will differ from how BAT is currently earned.
Overall these additions really were a massive bang to start the last month of 2022 and it will be interesting to see if this is it or if they will have more end-of-the-year announcements in store for us!
