Hey folks, so if you’ve followed along with my other articles, you’ll know there’s been a lot of speculation of when/if Arbtirum, Ethereum’s premier L2 was going to do an airdrop…and the day has finally arrived, in approximately six and a half days in fact:
Airdrop breakdown:
- There was 0% presale
- The airdrop snapshot was taken on February 6th, 2023
- A total of 10 billion tokens will be airdropped with the following distribution, with approximately 1.162 billion tokens (11.62% )to individual Arbitrum users:
$ARB Tokenomics
- The token is inflationary at 2% APY
- All investor and team tokens (4.4447 billion tokens) are subject to a 4- year vesting schedule, with the first unlock happening in one year, and then monthly after that.
How does this stack up compared to the $OP (Optimism’s) airdrop?
- Optimism’s first airdrop was approximately around 215 million $OP tokens, (roughly 163 million) of them which were actually claimed
- Optimism’s 2nd airdrop which occurred earlier this year was literally airdropped (as opposed to being claimable) and totaled around 22.3 million tokens
How to check if you were eligible:
- Go directly to the Arbitrum Foundation’s website
- Connect your wallet
- Click “Check Eligibility”
- Then the next screen should show exactly how much you’re eligible for:
I’m extremely excited about the $ARB drop not because I think I’ll become rich, but because at the very least maybe now I won’t get as many scam/spam messages telling me that the Arbitrum token is available, trying to get me to click on a link that will give over access to my wallet. (OK let’s be real, I’m sure a lot of these scammers will continue to be trying to do just that, regardless if the legitimate airdrop is released)
Jokes aside, I’m not surprised that this airdrop is finally coming to fruition, because especially after seeing what the $OP token has done for Optimism, I think it was really only a matter of time.
