4 September 2021: With the basis of present dangers balanced with potential methods of combative action, the question of how to move our civilization to one that is fractally sustainable can be understood. With this fifth paper of Advancing Humanity, we will inquire into the fundamental structure of a fracto-sustainable civilization & paths of implementation that can be utilized.

Moving from Inquiry to Action
At this point in our investigations, the goal should now be to make use of the abundance of information that has been presented in the first four papers - bringing it all home if you will. To do this, we must write out a plan in which all may follow to move from our current civilization to the fracto-sustainable civilization. The following steps will be explained in detail but are presented here to demonstrate the expectations as we move through Paper 5. These steps may be implemented by any sized organization of people - including households, communities, local municipalities, cities, states, and nations.
The steps to implementing the fracto-sustainable civilization model are as follows:
1. Education on present dangers & shifting our worldview
2. Adoption of decentralized currencies & the subsequent defunding of traditional centralized entities to fund innovation in numerous sectors for the rapid reduction in GHG emissions
3. Implementation of the eudaimonic socioeconomic model i.e. eudaimonism (which will be presented in detail) to create communities that are built for sustainable production, participation, & protection of the biosphere ; striving towards fractal sustainability
4. Extension of assistance to other communities, once fractal sustainability is achieved & a surplus is generated, to create a durable network of human civilizations i.e. returning to sustainable globalization
With a successful implementation of the above plan by a large enough percentage of the populous of nations (starting with western nations), GHG emissions can be successfully mitigated enough to prevent a disastrous fallout of runaway climate change. The continuity of young generations and the preservation of thousands of years of human progress, knowledge, and technology is essential. This will most likely be the most difficult task to undertake in the history of the human race, but the stakes demand it.
Step One - Education & Shifting Our Worldview
The Era of Widespread Awareness to the Shortcomings of Modern Humanity - The Great Awakening
The most detrimental shortfall of present methods of action to combat abrupt global climate change is simply a lack of appropriate education on the matter. The global mass media has failed to present the dangers adequately in a way that is met with urgent, systemic change sufficient enough to curb our current rate on unsustainable growth. Through local niche, ground roots efforts of education (i.e. local community leaders whom people trust) the success of this education movement becomes more probable.
This first step is the most important to the entire success of implementing this new model. Both elements of this step - the present dangers of climate change and the need to completely shift our entire worldview - are absolutely crucial to the adoption of such a model. In addition to community-drive efforts of education & worldview shift, we need to immediately inform our youth ,from at least high school age through higher education, of the immediate and lasting dangers of our current rate of abrupt climate breakdown & biodiversity collapse. This should be completed through faculty.
With access to the most robust information tools ever conceived, today's youth are some of the most qualified individuals on the planet to assist in the transformation of society. The abundance of available knowledge through means such as the internet have allowed young generations to become the most well-informed, intelligent generations in human history. In addition to being made aware of the dangers to their futures, providing the youth with the opportunity to assist in this transformational change will help to ensure a shift in our worldview & way of thinking does at least occur in our up & coming generations.
Topics within learning institutions should be adjusted to fit into a worldview of finite resources & potentially catastrophic climatic stability with primary focus coming at the collegiate level. Students at the college level are tomorrow's leaders and these individuals need to all be informed on the specifics of the climate crisis. Anything short of this is not only a wasted resource, but yet another generation that may have to learn the truth on their own and deal with the attached controversies of that awakening. We simply do not have time for such a scenario.
Mental health should also become a priority within this first step with special attention given to our youth. The information regarding our present, dire situation will come with responses that lead to deep anxiety, depression, and other mental health effects. Becoming knowledgeable on the subject of abrupt climate change and coming to terms with the fact that you may not have a future is extremely damning for anyone to hear, let alone our youth. It is imperative that the mental health of these individuals becomes an extremely high priority. Protecting our youth is all that matters as they are the future of humanity.
If successful, both our communities & our youth will be sufficiently educated on the immediate danger all of humanity faces and can be brought into discussions on mitigation & implementation of the FSC model of some iteration of the model. This raises our ability to combat present dangers significantly.
Step Two - Adopting Decentralized Currencies & Defunding Centralized Entities
The Enactment of Widespread, Systemic, Transformational Change - The Human Revolution
The next step in the process is the immediate, widespread adoption of decentralized cryptocurrencies which will allow communities to detach from malicious, centralized entities like governments & corporations. This is absolutely essential. The suspension of government and the defunding of damaging corporations will deliver an immediate economic blow to the parties that have enabled the deaths of millions and the dangers that all of humanity now faces.
Through an adoption of crypto, potentially trillions of dollars flowing into these assets will provide local communities with the funds necessary to implement major restructuring & innovative changes to a number of different sectors - including energy, internet, communications, water, and agriculture systems. As new, sustainable infrastructure is funded & developed, centralized entities are suspended & defunded, and our infinite growth model is abandoned, a return to localization will provide humanity with the chance to full-stop the growing dangers of climate change.
Steps one & two must happen back to back and occur immediately & rapidly. This is why:
As aerosol masking helps to eliminate some of the warming effects of GHG emissions, there will be an immediate rise in global temperatures possibly by as much as 0.5 degrees when the burning of fossil fuels is halted. If we wait too long, even if we achieve a reduction in GHG emissions, the aerosol masking effect could add significantly more warming and push us way over climatic tipping points, effectively guaranteeing the systemic collapse of both the climate & the biosphere. This is why it is absolutely imperative steps one & two happen as quickly as possible. Again, we are out of time.
As cryptocurrencies are adopted & decentralized, democratized, localized infrastructure is developed, this is the step in which the masses may quit their jobs in the current civilization and pull back into their communities to commence this restructuring. Many people will be needed with the redesigning of households, apartments, community buildings, and more. Most people will be needed to facilitate the decentralization of agriculture and tend to crops & water collection. Thus, a major period of unemployment can be avoided as traditional money will no longer be required. This step will also require the most resilience of individuals. Communities must band together to implement the change necessary to initiate the decentralization of energy & agriculture specifically. It will be an extremely difficult time.
Here in step two is the step in which the most danger from centralized entities will arise. It is impossible to predict the reaction of centralized entities to this level change. With the defunding of traditional governments, corporations, and the like, it may immediately be labeled as treason or terrorism by mass media. This is because it will be the most rapid reduction of power the elite have ever experienced, with that power switching hands from the handful of corporate boards, politicians, & billionaires to the masses. The possibilities of immediate policing, military action, martial law, suspension of human rights, and other factors cannot be ruled out. It is imperative that you do not engage with these forces if possible. Getting into a prolonged conflict with centralized forces could delay our efforts to mitigate abrupt climate change and derail humanity's chances for survival. With that said, we must defend our local communities - and most importantly, our future generations at any cost, which is precisely the goal of these papers.
Centralized entities lose their power immediately when the masses choose to stop acknowledging their power & influence. To combat this narrative, fear & propaganda will undoubtedly be used to turn us on each other. This is yet another example of the fundamental importance of step one on the education of everyone, especially the youth, regarding the dangers humanity currently faces and how to change our worldview. If that step is truly successful, the propaganda will be far less effective. At this point, when the propaganda fails, they must resort to physical control and violence.
If governments and corporations truly cared about people, violence would not occur. This is checkmate. These entities either allow the revolutionary, transformational change of civilization to commence, or their true nature will become known to all individuals of this planet and they will resort to mass violence to keep their power. The masses outnumber the elite by the billions. Thus, we are stronger then they ever will be which means that we can and will prevail should this be the case.
At the end of step two, current civilization will have been replaced by a return to localization and the widespread implementation of decentralized innovations to facilitate the ending of GHG emissions by humans. Consumerism, corporatism, traditional governments, economics, and all entities associated with the former will be permanently suspended. This is where courage will be needed the most, not hope. Should this step be successful, GHG emissions will be halted and humanity will be given the time to employ the principles of eudaimonia and begin the creation of the fracto-sustainable civilization model.
Step Three - Employing the Principles of Eudaimonia & Creating the Fracto-Sustainable Civilization
The Creation of a New, Sustainable, Fractal Civilization - The Great Rebuilding
The principles of eudaimonia can be understood through the origination of the term eudaimonia. In approximately 350 B.C.E (though the exact dating is subject to debate), Greek philosopher Aristotle wrote his works on ethics titled Nicomachean Ethics. Within the foundation of this work, an inquiry into the basis of human happiness, or depending on the exact translation used, human flourishing or prosperity, provided the most well-known groundwork for the term eudaimonia. This term refers to the state which an individual reaches through an understanding of true human purpose, which is based on our capacity for deep intellectual reasoning and drive to achieve our full potential. A fulfillment of this potential, according to Aristotle, is only possible through a consistent improvement on our intellectual capacity and strive towards virtuousness. Through this improvement, humanity naturally moves towards a higher understanding, ultimately leading each individual towards their own state of eudaimonia.
Using the basis of Aristotle's work, one can derive a philosophical ideology: eudaimonism i.e. the principles of eudaimonia & the philosophy behind the creation & implementation of the fracto-sustainable civilization. In other words, through the elements provided in these papers, this is simply humanity continuing on its path to higher understanding - finding a new way in which to organize ourselves with newfound understanding of the reality in which we all exist. Thus, the basis of Aristotle’s ethical philosophy is brought within the societal model of human society for the organization of the fracto-sustainable civilization. While human beings have arisen out of nature itself, the ability for deep, intellectual human reasoning is unique to our species, at least within the confines of our planet based on present knowledge. Therefore, it is the responsibility of humanity to utilize this higher capacity for inquiry to not only ensure prosperity within the natural world but also within our own civilization.
Current societal philosophies and ideologies fall notoriously short of this responsibility. This, in turn, has led to the existential threat in which humanity now finds itself in. Worse still, 21st century humanity has also fallen off the track of improving upon our reasoning of the world. This has led to a major disconnection between humanity and nature, between differing cultures within our current civilization, and even between individuals. Eudaimonism addresses these systemic failures by expanding the societal model to incorporate purposeful production of value, inclusion between participants within this value creation, and puts emphasis on the fundamental connection between humanity and the natural world in which we rely upon.
With an understanding of eudaimonia, we can then more easily define what it means to be human and to be apart of human society. A fundamental responsibility arises from this premise. By correcting our philosophies we can correct ourselves, and by correcting ourselves, we can save ourselves from the clutches of destruction at the hands of the planet in which we call home. This is where we can now introduce & implement the ideology of eudaimonism. The fundamental philosophy behind such a theory can be understood though the following equation:
The Eudaimonia Equation
Prosperity = Purposeful Production + Inclusive Participation + Sustainable Protection
Purposeful Production
This concept refers to the production of readily useful items, technologies, structures, infrastructure, and so on that has fundamental value to civilization. The basis of such production should be that in which improves the prosperity of both humanity & the biosphere over the long term. Currently, consumerism is the precise opposite of purposeful production. The goods we produce have no inherently important value or reason within society. Our goods are simply created to be consumed and nothing more.
This will be a period of sacrifice as the widespread availability of industrial products disappears. Essential items like medicines, certain technologies, necessary parts for innovations & research can be continued in some capacity. However, most comforts western civilizations currently enjoy will have to be given up until we find a better, more sustainable way to initiate this level of production. This is where regret may appear at its highest and will be a period of questioning this entire practice.
The aerosol effect will cease and the rapid warming of the planet will commence. The first natural reactions to all these changes will be to immediately regret the preceding acts of transformational change and there will be a longing to return to how civilization currently is. These arguments will be brought in on the basis that the steps humanity has taken to avoid the climate disaster have and will not work. There is the possibility that nothing we do works. That cannot be ruled out. However, we will never know if we do not try. Therefore, the probability of success, even miniscule, warrants action. This period will be similar to that of a strong addiction & withdrawal. This is when we must show the most strength and resilience. It will be tremendously hard. However, current youth & future generations will thank us for our ability to accomplish this.
Inclusive Participation
With the suspension of centralized entities, one may ask how we would organize ourselves in an effective manner. This can be accomplished through the concept of inclusive participation within the eudaimonic socioeconomic framework. There is no government per say - governance over the fabric of society is done so through a utilization of common governance found within decentralized blockchains. Proof-of-Stake is arguably the best for this concept. The coin used for staking does not have to have any monetary value attached to it- it just has to be used as a sort of vote that each participating member of the community gets for being part of the society.
Obviously, with the suspension of consumerism & decentralized currencies now being used only in the forms of governance, the need for traditional money is eradicated along with traditional economics, finance, and other disciplines. With the decentralization of production, especially in regards to agriculture and other sectors, community building is no longer competitive. Instead of competing against one another to drive innovation, we simply just collaborate together.
Collaboration will not only facilitate stronger bonds & connections between participating members of each community, but it will also allow our collective minds to connect and combat problems as a single consciousness. The saying of two heads is better than one is applied here - but exponentially. As each community bonds and becomes more connected, we grow stronger as a species. Innovations are shared with all as is progress. We would drop our previous stereotypes, judgements, and other grievances. We would begin seeing each other as family and as equals - something modern civilization has never been able to accomplish.
Sustainable Protection
The most important piece of the eudaimonia equation ( Prosperity = Purposeful Production + Inclusive Participation + Sustainable Protection ) is the unwavering protection of the natural world. As beings of higher understanding, it is our fundamental duty to not only protect the biosphere for the preservation of our own lives, but to also protect & shepherd the life that exists here. The Earth gives us all the resources in which our current civilization is built. We just have to preserve those resources more effectively and live more sustainably.
All facilitated production must be controlled at a rate that does not exceed the environmental capacity to support said production. Innovations, over time, may allow us to initiate higher rates of production, especially with regards to novel research & innovations within concepts such as limitless energy, space mining, and automation. Humanity's ambitions for growth is not necessarily a bad thing unless it is allowed to expand uncontrollably or unguided. Everything must be taken in moderation to promote the best conditions for longevity.
The above principles of eudaimonia combined form the necessary elements to generate prosperity. Through an increasing effort to grow this net benefit of humanity, prosperity of all within the model can be increased over time. The more purposeful production that can be sustained, the more resources will be made available to each organized community. Through inclusive participation, each member of the community will all have an immediate say in the implementation of said resources, should they choose to participate. As resources are sourced out to various sectors within the community and protection of the environment is upheld, the community can experience growth prosperity - including growth in ability & freedom of time.
With the successful implementation of decentralized energy grids, communications & internet infrastructure, and water / agriculture production, at last the fracto-sustainable civilization is beginning to piece together. At this point, each community should be reaching sustainability & self sufficiency. When this is achieved, the hardest part of the transition is over and humanity can then shift focus to reconnecting.
Step Four - Extension of Connection & the Expansion of the Fractal Model
With a successful implementation of the first three steps, each community choosing to implement this model has now effectively reached sustainability & self sufficiency. At this point, the expansion of this fractal society can begin as we move from localization back to a sustainable globalized civilization. Once a community has achieved fractal sustainability, networking to other communities can begin. Surpluses that have been achieved in production may be shared, along with resources, knowledge, and anything else necessary to help other communities also achieve self dependency. The goal here is to have each community be fractally sustainable - meaning they do not rely on any other outside help to flourish.
This process is one that will actually be occurring simultaneously throughout the entire process - just within the confines of the community until this fourth step. As individuals & households attempt to reach their own level of sustainability within communities, the sharing of knowledge, resources, and surpluses will help facilitate the rapid adoption of this model - and help to ensure success. This is why collaboration is so fundamentally important. Without it, society fractures and turns on itself.
The extension of connection, once the community has achieved fractal sustainability, can start with other local communities in the vicinity. The same process repeats itself, with each community reaching sustainability helping others do the same through utilization of the eudaimonia equation. As communities connect, the fractal model expands. Eventually, over time, using the same eudaimonia equation for prosperity, fractalized sustainability is spread through regions, nations, and eventually to the whole world. The fracto-sustainable civilization is complete when humanity returns to this level of global connection but instead backed by sustainability that is fractally visible from the individual/household level in each community all the way up through to the entire planet.
This civilization would be the most durable in all of human history as no areas of weak, vulnerable centralization exist. The robustness of each sustainable community is found in all communities. Therefore, even in periods of disaster, the whole of civilization can continue on without major setbacks, unlike today. Additionally, if parts of the civilization do experience disaster (elements of climate change are expected to continue for decades or centuries), the rest of the fracto-sustainable civilization will always be there to assist those parts in recovery efforts.
By doing this, not only do we build back a sustainable, durable global civilization, but this new civilization will also be founded on collaboration, equality, and love. The marginalization of groups will be eradicated along with racism, sexism, or anything else. Each human being will be seen as an equal - nobody will stand above anybody else. Once the whole of humanity is included, the possibilities for expansion are unimaginable in current times. By staying true to the eudaimonia equation, multi-planetary civilizations can be created - all with the same fundamental durability as the one here on Earth would have. The possibilities & accomplishments of such a civilization are truly endless.
Summary of Eudaimonism & Timeline of Implementation
Through the above steps, one can see the path towards a more ecologically conscious, sustainable, inclusive future for humanity. We can eradicate unnecessary suffering, banish malicious concentrations of power, help restore the biosphere in which we call home, and build back as a better human civilization. With the absence of any power structure, the subsequent pursuit of that power will also cease. This is also the case with elements of greed, specifically pertaining to the pursuit of wealth. Take away money and there shall be no pursuit of it.
Governments would be gone, financial stresses would be gone, and the concept of infinite growth, economies, and other concepts would be effectively retired. Humanity would finally correct course and get back to what is actually important. The better we get at doing the above steps, the more sound our civilization will become. This can lead to a new revolution in the arts & sciences; a new era for humanity. Out of this new culture would emerge a connected, resilient, loving civilization that is sustainable, durable, and potentially everlasting.
Timeline
To accomplish the above, we must act now. The following is a timeline of implementation to help alleviate the effects of abrupt climate change on future generations:
Present - Step One: Immediately begin education campaigns in every community possible, starting with households, education institutions, & local communities. This where humanity lays the groundwork for success of all other steps. The better job done in step one, the more probable success becomes. This period of education should be met hand in hand with thorough preparations, especially for step two. Communities should come together and adopt plans of action for implementing localization & decentralization prior to the human revolution within step two.
2021-2025 - Step Two: Heavily push the rapid adoption of decentralized currencies & suspend the use of traditional centralized currencies. This should be followed by an immediate suspension of consumerism, corporatism, and other unsustainable practices. Quit jobs, stop using gas, do anything necessary to strip monetary power away from centralized entities. This is where the overthrow of the current civilization occurs and where participating communities must demonstrate unshakable courage. This is the step in which failure is extremely high as it will be extremely difficult to give up the comforts of current life.
2025 - 2050 - Step Three: This will be the period of localization & innovation within communities. The implementation of widespread decentralization occurs here. Within this 25 year period, the most hardship & highest probability for failure will occur. This is where humanity must show compassion & resilience. Climate change will continue to worsen during this period until temperature stability is achieved around or after 2050. This is the great sacrifice as current generations give up the comforts of our previous unsustainable civilization to ensure the survival of our children & future generations.
2050 and beyond - Step Four: By this point, sustainability with local models has been achieved. Communities have begun the construction of the fractal through the re-connection with other communities, regions, and nations. As the world comes back together, it will be one that is durable and sustainable with an unshakable connection to one another. This great period of transformation will be the single greatest feat in the history of humanity. By the end of the century, globalization may be achieved once again.
Final Remarks
The only way in which this timeline is even remotely feasible if we start today. We do not have time for a slow transitional period away from fossil fuels. It MUST be immediate, radical, and systemic if we want to give future generations a chance to walk the Earth. Humanity is resilient. We can do this if we encourage one another, work together, and strive for the goals here. These papers are in no way a direct roadmap and precise how to guide. They are meant to serve as a starting point for something new. I am just one person - but the absolute lack of viable discussion prompted me to write these papers and I feel I have presented a path that could carry some merit. Now, I leave the rest up to all of you.
We will either be remembered as the generations of humanity that squandered the Earth and our species, or we will be remember as the best generations of humanity - the ones that sacrificed our current lives to save the ones that come after us. The choice is ours and the deadline is here; now we just have to choose.
