If you are interested in saving gas fees and having someone to compound your yield farms and LPs for you, a yield optimizer may be just what you need. Many charge a small fee for each compound or a small deposit fee, but for just about everybody, the savings in gas more than make up for it. Personally I find them especially interesting and enjoy looking for new competitors with interesting vaults and methods. Plus, many have the added benefit of rewarding you with their own native token and a share of profits!
While the big guys such as Beefy and Harvest are good for most, here are a few smaller yield optimizers (and something unique about them) that are worth checking out:
Autoshark
Autoshark was a Bunny fork that has grown into a medium sized player in its own right. It is one of the few yield optimizers that optimizes Panther, Treasure Key, and Wault and rewards users with its native JAWS token that can be staked for WBNB.
What's interesting about Autoshark?
1. Their "Claim" function automatically moves the JAWS tokens into the WBNB dividend pool, saving you the trouble of manually moving it.
2. They have recently rolled out NFTs that boost the APY of their vaults! If you obtain one of their NFTs (cool-looking sharks), you can add them on their dapp and get little bit extra reward.
Blizzard
Blizzard started out as a yield farm but is transforming into a gaming (casino launching in September) and yield optimizing juggernaut. They have a number of Pancake, Apeswap, Bakery, and other vaults to choose from and promises of more to come with their Snowbank V2 launch (imminently).
What's interesting about Blizzard?
Blizzard probably has the most unique approach to tokenomics I've ever seen. They have a few tokens that are used to incentivize using their site - xBLZD (native token that can be staked for BUSD rewards), ibBNB (yield bearing BNB through Alpha Homora), Gale, and Tempest.
xBLZD and ibBNB are pretty self-explanatory, but what about Gale and Tempest? Gale and Tempest are two tokens that are issued on a bonding curve, with Gale being backed by BUSD and Tempest being backed (with the launch of V2) by xBLZD-BUSD LP. What is really cool about this is that the price of each increases whenever a token is minted, it is backed by assets, and Gale even earns interest over time. When you cash out Gale or Tempest, a small portion is burned to increase the price floor for all tokens. With the launch of Snowbank V2, the Tempest token will perform similar to Gale but come from the performance fees of the vault, putting significant buying pressure on xBLZD and increasing the amount of Blizzard liquidity. It's almost like their entire approach is to have yield on yield on yield! For more technical info, check out their docs!
Yield Parrot
Yield Parrot offers a number of vaults for Pancake, Wault, and Apeswap and rewards users of its vaults with its LORY token.
What's interesting about Yield Parrot?
Yield Parrot seems intent on building lots of partnerships. Much like Autoshark, you can stake LORY for WBNB, but you can also stake for a growing list of partner tokens such as WINGS and SEED. Similarly on partner sites you had the opportunity to stake their native token for LORY rewards.
Conclusion
Whether you are a crypto sardine trying to save gas fees or a crypto whale trying to save time, yield optimizers can be a great tool. They often allow you to compound your assets such as CAKE, BTC, etc for reasonable fees and sometimes an additional token to farm. I recommend you to still do your own research (and of course none of this is financial advice), but these three yield optimizers have a little bit different of a twist than some of the big players, so go check them out!
