The easiest way to get a read on a project is how responsive is the Twitter (X) account. Earlier this week I wrote a quick blog post about the 28,411 Sats that appeared in my Shake Pay account tagged as "Shake Paid". Although I was happy to see them, I prefer know how things occur to see if I can do it again.
So I published a quick blog and tweeted it out. On October 14th, 2023 I asked the Shake Pay Twitter account directly what Shake Paid was and I told the the explanation link was broken.
I thought that I was getting reimbursed for the Bitcoin purchases I mage last month - via Receipt Hog and Cambly. Now I was close, and coincidentally the amounts line up very well but Shake Pay isn't about your Bitcoin purchases. It is in regards to all of your Shake Pay purchases.
On October 16th, 2023 someone from the Shake Pay team read my tweet and responded.
I did some digging around in the app and the new interface does explain whats going on, it even tells you the purchase that created the event. One of my lunches was the catalyst. Not only did I get a great deal, paid cash, got a pretty nice round up, I also get the value of my lunch in Bitcoin.
ShakePaid is like getting your normal shake pay reward but on steroids. 100% match. This is obviously to encourage spending and doled out at random. That doesn't bother me. I will not be actively hunting this down, but It's nice knowing 'Shake Paid' exists.
Its even better knowing that the ShakePay team cares enough about its user base to actually monitor its Twitter feed and respond to uses. Such a simple way of building trust. I can think of many other platforms that have a sterile, robotic, social media presence. As if they are doing it because they have to and not because they want to.
