Recent bank turmoil has boosted the risk of a US recession, Neel Kashkari said. Asked by CBS if the strains could tip the economy into contraction, the Minneapolis Fed chief said, “it definitely brings us closer.” Also up in the air: a widespread credit crunch. It’s a shift for Kashkari, who in recent months had been an outspoken hawk favoring rate hikes.
