Xi Jinping met Antony Blinken and called for stable ties. The secretary of state’s trip ended with a promise of further high-level dialogue and a return to agreements Xi and Joe Biden reached in November, but without progress on issues including restoring direct military contacts. While Blinken expects better engagement, China’s foreign ministry said Xi took the meeting out of “courtesy” and blamed the US for unresolved friction.
