Splinterlands | Sabre Shark Challenge

The weekly Share Your Battle Challenge organized by the Splinterlands team continues to run and this week the Sabre Shark is highlighted.

The Sabre is one of the cards I like and have at level 5 and like but I honestly rarely use it. Getting it up to level 6 more than doubles the cost of the card and gives it 1 more health which is probably worth it. Right now, I am less confident compared to a while back that getting more cards and continuing to build my collection is a smart thing. I have lost quite some trust in the team to act in a way that benefits the players (read post) and also fear that these older cards at one point will be 'retired' in one way or another so players are forced to buy the new cards that are being printed. The difference in card stats for this one card also won't make much difference in my overall performance as long as the matching system remains how it is. Anyway, on to the match this week.

This was a match where the summoner abilities were silenced and the health of all monsters were equal to the one with the highest health. Having a lot of cards really helps with these specific rules and I was able to select a pretty strong team with my Sia Seachan summoner which gave me 1 more mana compared to players using a regular 3 mana summoner. The low Mana rules made it perfect to play the Creeping Ooze in first place as a puppet monster to absorb damage. The cheap, fast & high damage Sabre Shark was a perfect monster for the 2nd spot followed by 2 tank heal monsters Albrtross & Crustacean King. Some backend damage with the Pirate Archer and the always useful Golden Furious Chicken to possible absorb sneak damage.

Even though my opponent had similar level cards, it was never a matchup and I'm not sure if it was because he or she played bad or just because of a lack of cards. So I don't really feel I outplayed my opponent even though my line-up was really solid I would say.

Important: Treat games in the first place as games and not as investment opportunities, Splinterlands allows you to earn some money and get good returns but you are much better off flipping burgers in Mcdonalds when looking at the money earned for the time invested. Investing also comes with a risk of card values going down.
