FT Crypto watch Sept 20th

People of the crypto, whose massed understanding overwhelms our own, we love you!! Thanks for dreaming of a better world rising above the travails of fiat.

Thanks even more for helping make it real by meeting on the omniscient Publish0x.

Good on ya for our changing the crypto  fabric of the FT, one chitpost at at time.

Today's foray into the print version.  No world indices but what a hypnotic funeral.  The guns, the drums, the bells, the crazy horses, the choirs and the REALLY NICE feathers in the hats.  OK one pic we will never see a funeral like this again ever.  The love for the Queenie was quite distributed.

Crypto won't say crypto:  Brussels is still pushing for more of that crisis power.  Might help hold the EU together, the USA kinda has this power.  Then again former eastern bloc countries are scared of that "command economy" thang.  We say Brussels is a place to change trains, not centralize all the power in the world.  Not what could, but when would it all go wrong?  Wrong-er???

There's a really weird cautionary fiat tale going on in Nigeria, along with tradfi corruption and love/hate for crypto: Even Emerate airlines had to cut services to Nigeria just to get some of their own dollars out. The official trade rate for the Naira is about half of the black market rate. The dollar shortage hits as inflation hits a ~20 year high of ~20%. The exchange rate "regime" is complex & opaque with windows that keep closing.  Insiders get dollars and "round-trip" for profit again and again. The oil infrastructure is shot, theft is rampant, only illegal refineries are being built and production cannot even meet limited quotas.  Investors are walking away.

Something is very rotten with this fiat and Cantillon positioned setup.

A big spread on asset managers pushing alternative investments, not a word about crypto.  We see you, FT.

Crypto that says crypto - two online stories make dead trees today!!

The news-free D'oh Kwan on the lam story runs, with a very old pic. We stand by comments.

The UK watchdog FCA attack on BINANCE prints.  Reading it again, plus the FCA website and the Binance response,  we guess that the FCA really IS dogging FTX.  FTX gave up on UK regs, and just went through a Cypriot arm that is licensed to sort of deal with the UK. We reckon it was the FCA who oddly conflated some bogus phone numbers just to put a little extra hate on their dunning of FTX.   Judges say we have to take back an FU or three from the FT and give them to the FCA.  The hate from the FT properly reflected the hate from the FCA, rofl!!   Send roses, Sammy.  Or pub meat, we dunno.  Or millions of dollars and consultants to fill out British paperwork.

That's it for print!!  Online?

Yess!!  two hours hot off the presses, NASDAQ is gonna open a crypto exchange!!! :  Nasdaq will start with crypto custody first but considering trading.  Rehash numbers go down, terra stablecoin (sic) 3AC, Celsius.  On the other hand Blackrock is launching a spot BTC trust, Fidelity offers 401K BTC, and distributed LEDGER is transformational for the world at large!!!

but but Nasdaq rival Intercontinental Exchange got about traction with crypto custody venture thinks Nasdaq is unrivalled and has a right to win in this space!!!   Valerie, SVP of anti crime techwants to offer services and win that market too.

story: great news, YAY !!! thanks !! OK tho TBF, the obligatory negative crypto copypasta  gets repetitive if not disgusting this time around.   What was on the shot / bingo card?  "despite the crash in digital asset prices" check.  "undeterred by market crash" repetitive, but check.  BTC and ETH number go "plummeting"  down check. Market cap 3 tn to less than 1 tn, checkFinancial ruin for investors, check.  Crypto crime a huge and growing problem, god this gets old, CHECK!!! Our old favorite terra stablecoin (sic, no algo)  CHECK we have a winner!!  BINGOOOOOOO!!!  or, seven shots, a lot or an actually massive milestone forward for crypto.

Cliche talking down points, all getting really old.  on a nasty note, on a nasty note, well played if you just hate crypto so much you should never be writing about it.  Wanna play that way??

Heed your betters and learn,  FT, Nasdaq ain't playin.   It goes like this, lissen up:  is big number 25 trillion in market cap.  Got it?? Now, number two, Nasdaq, at 20 billion, is busting a move into crypto to compete.   They're trying harder cuz they're number TWO!!!

What will numbers 3, 4, 5, 6, & 7biggest big shot exchanges  do,  in China, Europe, Japan, Hong Kong, and India ??  Who knows, time & maybe real journalists will tell.

Way, waaaaaay back, tied for place at just over we have the Saudi Stock Exchange in ever bustling , and, oh yeah!! Remember tail end Charlie the , London stock exchange.  What will THEY do??

WHO CARES??????   Probably sic the FCA on Nasdaq then??? LMAO!!!  AH HA HA HA HA HAH!!! sorry.   NOT sorry, they can't even approve mutualcoins even when being begged by their own trade union!!!

Phoney cryptophobia, give it up!  Quit hanging on, and draw another breath !!! with apologies to the Clash.  Ahh back to love.  We love Queen!! Here is the best version of their best song, despite being SO early:  seems strangely appropriate.  Bonus funny: lookit Brian May's tiny stack in this vid.  THAT's funny, here's Brian a bit later: You get the idea, later still, we could do this all nightbut then we would end up back at the wall o amps in the Darkness guitar solo of I Believe In a Thing Called Love.Which we do.  Love y'all crypto kinfolk have a great night whenever that is!!!
