The creator of the Telegram messenger Pavel Durov warned of fraudulent schemes carried out allegedly on his behalf in the social networks Facebook and Instagram.

He drew attention to the fact that such ads are approved without problems by moderators of platforms:

"These fraudulent schemes are approved by Facebook moderators, receiving official status of advertisements and thereby misleading people."

The main victims of such advertising are the elderly. One of the last cases occurred with a 65-year-old Russian woman - she scored loans of almost 200 thousand rubles, wanting to invest in "a unique trading platform for pensioners, which was developed by the Durov brothers."

Despite numerous complaints, Facebook and Instagram continued to promote such ads last fall and spring of this year, added Pavel Durov.

"We have repeatedly stated that neither I nor Telegram offer people ways to earn money, but the Facebook team has not stopped advertising fake projects that are hiding behind my name."

Durov called on Facebook to establish moderation of advertisements within a week, and also expressed hope that the company would compensate for the damage caused to users by the actions of moderators.

“If this does not happen, I urge users of Facebook and Instagram to keep cases of distribution of fraudulent advertisements by the company. This evidence can be claimed in the framework of possible litigation in this case. ”

Recall that in September 2019, fraudulent offers of earnings were spread in the Russian segment of Facebook using the Telegram Open Network platform, which had not yet been launched.

In February 2020, a Qatari billionaire and former husband of the famous American singer Janet Jackson Wissam al-Mana sued Facebook for failure to respond to the social network’s timely advertisement for a fraudulent cryptocurrency project using his photo.

At the same time, the administration of the social network strictly moderates pages devoted to cryptocurrency topics. In March, Facebook blocked a link to an educational project on cryptocurrencies.
