Canadian authorities are reportedly struggling to seize all of the Bitcoin donations made to Freedom Convoy truckers following the group’s protesting of the country’s vaccine mandates.

According to a report by Decrypt, the Canadian government is struggling to recover most of the $880,000 worth of peer-to-peer crypto donations that were made to the Freedom Convoy’s cause.

Government officials and local authorities were able to bring an end to the protest in Ottawa last month. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau invoked the country’s Emergencies Act. Under the Act, the government was able to freeze bank accounts involved with donating to the Freedom Convoy movement. Officials were also able to petition crowdfunding platform GoFundMe to return $10 million in donations made to the Freedom Convoy.

However, the Canadian government has been unable to stop a fundraiser titled “Bitcoin for Truckers,” which raised crypto donations for the protest. The Ontario Supreme Court has ordered owners of the multi-sig wallet containing the donated Bitcoin to freeze the funds, in addition to 122 other crypto addresses.

As reported by CBC, 14.6 Bitcoin of the total 20.7 BTC had already been distributed to 101 separate unidentifiable crypto wallets prior to the Supreme Court’s order.

Nicholas St. Louis, one member of the multi-sig wallet who posts under the Twitter handle Nobody Caribou, said that the transfer was done “well before” any legal threats were made against the donation group.
