Wealth is Built, Not Acquired

I don’t play the lottery.

It’s not because I don’t like the odds (which are terrible), or because I think it’s rigged (which it’s not).

It’s because I have a firm belief that wealth is built, not acquired.

What I mean by that is the wealthy don’t get lucky. They get rich by being smart with their money (I mean those who were not born into wealth).

I think everyone has the fantasy that they will win life changing money from a single ticket. That $1 will turn into $1,000,000.

It’s why we buy lottery tickets, watch game shows, go to the casino. Bug in the end it’s a fantasy that distracts us from the truth: that it takes discipline and hard work to increase our wealth.

During this past bull run there were a few that got lucky. They made a lot of money. But as we continue in the price slump I think it’s important to remember that gaining wealth is not about buying and selling at the right time.

Its about incremental gains. It’s about sticking to your plan. It’s about the long game.

So don’t play the lottery, and start building your wealth.
