Recently, it was reported that Tata Communications, PCCW Global, TI Sparkle, and Colt, the major Telecom firms, are associating with technology vendors, which include Amartus, Accedian, and Clear on a blockchain PoC (Proof-of-Concept) for on-demand services.
A major issue in the mobile communications sector is overseeing the services offered to a customer through various suppliers or intermediaries. Moreover, each party needs to connect back-end assets to monitor the shared services offered to a client. The procedure gets significantly complex when the information does not match up with service providers.
The Proof-of-Concept is to exhibit blockchain’s capacity across various regions to deliver on-demand services while guaranteeing the immutability of information shared among the mobile service providers. This program is being run under the progressing MEF 2019 event in California.
The Proof-of-Concept is centered around the interoperability of systems to empower members for having a safe and real-time perspective on the shared services executed to a client. Moreover, the trial will assess MEF’s Lifecycle Services Orchestration (LSO) guidelines like, LSO Sonata that will empower industry association.
The trial is important as Tata, Colt, PCCW, Amartus, and Clear are included in the telecom consortium Communications Blockchain Network (CBN), started by ITW Global Leader’s Forum. Further, Clear has been connected with various trials associated with Telefonica, Deutsche Telekom, and Vodafone to streamline the business roaming process among the operators.
Besides, technology service providers Amartus and Clear are making separate yet interoperable blockchain systems. Further, Accedian is associated with automating the task of Service Level Agreement (SLA) penalties and violations.
Another telecoms consortium, Carrier Blockchain Study Group (CBSG), with its leading members like TBCASoft, SoftBank, Far EasTone, Sprint, Axiata, LG U+, and MTN are a notable few among others. CBSG has created the Distributed LEDGER Technology-based Cross-Carrier Payment System (CCPS) to streamline clearing and transaction records between various carriers.
