Brave is an amazing option to secure your online privacy and force Google to respect your wishes in terms of ads.
It blocks all advertisements from Google, and in return, you're actually paid to view privacy respecting ads.
Couple BRAVE with a VPN, and my God you're basically invisible online. No one can trace you. No one can track you. No one can show you ads with malware. And you can still get paid. What better deal is there?
Well, with all these features comes probably the biggest paradox ever.
Brave pays you money, yes. But it does so through a very centralised service.
So centralised in fact, that you're required to submit your documents for no apparent reason.
All of a sudden, Brave isn't so enticing anymore. Why submit your data to withdraw a few dollars worth of BAT? Unless you live in a country where $15 a month can change your life, I don't see the need to give out your personal details to Uphold.
Then comes the other thing: The fees.
A friend of mine recently stated that he tried to withdraw 20BAT from uphold, and was hit with a 15BAT withdrawal fee. That makes exactly zero sense.
For starters, Uphold is a wallet. You shouldn't need to verify your online identity to use a wallet.
Second, gas fees are high yes, but definitely not that high. What exactly is them the incentive to use Brave if you can't withdraw your earnings to your exchange wallet or personal wallet?
I stopped using Brave for rewards a few weeks ago. It's still a great browser overall, but the rewards stuff is completely messed up in the head.
Brave is therefore contradicting itself here. They say they're all about decentralisation, but force you to use a centralised wallet to withdraw. They say they want you to earn money, but withdrawal fees are bonkers.
This is the brave paradox.
