While Mercedes-Benz originally showed off the EQA concept back in 2017 as a hatchback, the car evolved into a crossover/SUV as of last year. Today, the car has been officially unveiled by Mercedes-Benz, now known as the EQA 250. The company mentions that this EV is comparable to the Mercedes-Benz GLA, even calling it an all-electric sibling of the GLA.

The company said of the design: “As the all-electric sibling of the GLA, the EQA enjoys the same powerful overall proportions with short overhangs front and rear. The front section flows over the A-pillar into the visually compact greenhouse. The powerdomes hinted at in the bonnet, like the flush wheels, underscore the car’s self-confident stance. Further distinctive features include the powerful shoulders of the bodywork and the coupe-like lines of the side windows.

The first version of the Mercedes-Benz EQA 250 will feature a 66.5 kWh battery pack and a range of 486 km (301 miles) on the NEDC cycle, whereas the WLTP range is more reasonable at 426 km (265 miles). The company mentions that the battery can be charged using the 11 kW level 2 default charger while it can also be charged using a compatible DC fast charger (CCS) at up to 100 kW.

The all-electric EQA 250 uses a 140 kW front-wheel-drive motor, offering 0 to 62 mph acceleration in 8.9 seconds. While this isn’t on par with some of the EVs selling in the market today, this EV is sure to make a decent addition in the mid-range automobile segment.

Speaking of which, Mercedes-Benz is launching this in Germany first, while there’s no clarity on when this will reach the U.S. As for the pricing, the EQA 250 will start from €47,540 in Europe, which comes down to just under $50,000 after deducting VAT. Mercedes-Benz has said that it will start deliveries of the EQA 250 in Europe later this year.
