TradFi & Bitcoin - The Frustration Of "Failure" & The Creative Power It Wields

Spent the past two weeks with my wife’s family in Japan. Random connections I drew between the things I saw and crypto. Maybe you will be able to relate to some of these observations.

  1. Was folding the entire family’s laundry when I felt the tremors of an earthquake. But I was nonplussed and continued with my folding because earthquakes happen every other day in Japan. A nice reminder that the shocks generated by the crypto industry are like minor earthquakes in Japan. Just keep doing what I’m doing.
  2. Holding my baby girl is like grasping a slippery eel. The more flustered I get the more she threatens to slip out of my hands. A good reminder to just DCA (Don’t Care Anymore) and not think about optimising my buys.
  3. Moons payday and my generosity extends to my wife who is now doing grocery shopping at a local drugstore. (Why drugstores in Japan don’t just sell medicines is beyond me though). Gave her 5000 yen (about 50 bucks) n felt on top of the world!
  4. Moons payout so I was feeling a bit generous and treated my boy to an hour’s worth of play at one of those humongous indoor playgrounds in a typical suburban Japanese shopping mall. Glad that he’s so engrossed with all the toys and games that he’s leaving me in peace to…create content.
  5. Moons payday n eating all the funky items at Japan’s McDonalds - strawberry daifuku pie, macarons n teritama burger. Happy.
  6. This morning, I confessed to my wife that our baby girl had peed on the mattress when I changed her diaper. This meant that she had to scramble to find another mattress for our daughter to sleep tonight. She was Furious. But she doesn’t know furious yet. Not till I tell her the size of the crypto portfolio.
  7. Spent a day at the zoo with my family. The sight that struck me was lots of koi (carps) pushing their heads out of the water, their mouths wide open, ready to battle it out for the feed my toddler threw into the water. Kinda similar to the scammers we encounter in our DMs every day.
  8. Just spend an agonising two hours trying to feed an overactive toddler at a hotel buffet breakfast. Now excuse me while I go stare blankly at the charts.
  9. Just spent an enjoyable hour in an open-air onsen (hot spring) at a ryokan (hotel) with my family. The best way to rejuvenate after a long day and resume staring at the charts.
  10. Managed a crying baby to a chuckling and finally a sleeping one. I feel that I can turn my crypto portfolio the right side up, if given patience and time!
  11. Just spent the day at a local public library with my family. Renewed my resolution to read books on crypto. Knowledge is power. Power to the common man.
  12. My baby girl kept falling asleep while drinking milk from the bottle. I had to call out her name and cheer her on until she finished the last drop. I think this is similar to me trying to get to 20k moons - getting distracted while on the journey. But your comments n insights make me motivated to keep going.
  13. Am at the Anpanman Museum in Fukuoka, Japan where tons of Japanese families apparently spend the entire day there. What would a crypto museum aimed at kids look like in your opinion?
  14. Japan has child-size shopping carts, which means my toddler is having the time of his life shopping. I wonder if more of us would tip others our moons if the tipping process is made more frictionless.
  15. Eating lunch at a park table and scrolling through this sub as local and bullet trains alike zoom past in the distance.
  16. Just caught my first glimpse of cherry blossoms blooming! Spring is coming in Japan. A reminder for me to keep stacking during this winter because this too shall pass.
  17. My toddler is engrossed in watching a long-running cartoon called Anpanman. If there were a Bitcoin cartoon, what do you think Bitcoin should look like?
  18. Had a haircut and bought two pairs of shoes today. Less money for DCA but feels great.
  19. Spring is upon us in Japan and every other shop is launching some strawberry or Sakura special. Pink desserts all the way. Which set me thinking: what colour do you associate Bitcoin with?
  20. Drinking a cup of Sakura green tea au fait at Doutor, Japan and counting my blessings this Reddit is working again so I can get my crypto news.
  21. Soaking in the bathtub consisting of natural water in Japan may just be the best way to end a fun day of shitposting. What’s yours?
  22. Celebrated my girl’s 100th day by eating n drinking way too much. One day I will tell my girl how much restraint I exercised by not selling moons at 30 cents because my focus was all on her.
  23. My toddler is at the stage when he is very fascinated by obake (Japanese word for ghosts). What ghosts do you think haunt our collective crypto memories?
  24. As I watch my toddler build big styrofoam blocks painstakingly at the indoor playground, I’m inspired to follow his example n have a laser focus with respect to stacking my sats!
  25. Remembered to search 3.11 on Yahoo Japan so that 10 yen would be donated to rehabilitation of the victims of the March 11 tsunami on my behalf. Really don’t mind if we can use our moons to make similar charitable donations one day.
  26. Watching Sazae San, a long running cartoon that airs every Sunday evening in Japan. So established that a phrase Sazae San Syndrome has been coined to denote how depressed fiat miners feel on the eve of every fiat mining week. Do you have phrases that are equivalent to Monday blues in your culture?
  27. Japan Is also known as the land of the vending machines. In an ideal world, what crypto merchandise should be sold in vending machines in your opinion?
  28. Frantically packing now to return to my in-laws’ place in Japan. So excited! Who has ever shitposted in a foreign country?
