Chinese mining pool F2Pool returned to the validator half a million dollars spent on commission per transaction

A user who mistakenly paid $ 540,000 in Ethereum for a transaction of $ 753,000 in ETH on June 11 was able to refund the full amount. On June 12, he contacted the F2Pool mining pool and explained that the node wallet had been attacked, resulting in the loss of 5531 ETH worth more than a million dollars. The validator asked for the return of the funds that made up the commission in order to compensate for part of the losses.

“Now the initial address is controlled by a hacker, so it makes no sense to return money to him. We agreed to send the commission to the new address provided by the sender after full verification, ”noted F2Pool.

For verification, the sender signed the new address with the key to the old one. In gratitude, he left the miners with 10% of the commission paid (231 ETH for $ 54,000). They will be used to cover production commissions in the pool from June 20 to 26.
