The Edge wallet it's over here!

Although many may not be interested in technologies such as NFTs and cryptocurrencies, believing that the "fad has passed", technology giants such as Sony and Microsoft still heavily invest in this segment.

A series of screenshots shared by user @thebookisclosed reveal a possible new tool that will soon arrive in Microsoft Edge: an integrated cryptocurrency wallet in the browser.

Last year, the big news in technology were NFTs and the Metaverse.

Although the current trend is focused on artificial intelligence such as ChatGPT, Microsoft still continues to invest in improvements for digital tokens.

Microsoft wants to overload its browser with another feature that will certainly raise controversy.

According to the feature's description, the idea is to give Edge customers a "non-custodial wallet," which means cryptocurrency holders won't need to rely on third parties to store private keys and passwords.

Microsoft says the project is its "journey into cryptocurrency and NFTs" and promises an easier and more secure experience without third-party extensions to facilitate interaction with Web3.

Interesting, but now what?

Obviously, the company is not giving testers any cryptocurrency or NFTs to participate in the tests and also has no plans to reimburse them in case of loss of funds. Therefore, people with access to the Edge wallet should proceed at their own risk.

Interestingly, the wallet clearly states that it is a "confidential project and no details should be shared externally."

The updated wallet in Microsoft Edge will show your current balance and assets, transaction history, connected apps, your watchlist, and a dedicated tab to explore the world of Web3, cryptocurrencies, and NFTs.

There are also integrations with COINBASE and MoonPay to allow users to buy coins and send payments to others.
