Splinterlands Season Rewards: Opening 35 Diamond Chests

I have been playing SPLINTERLANDS for a couple of years now and I have not usually been to bothered to track the $ value of the rewards. I am usually quite structured in keeping a tab of my BTC and Altcoins value and all DeFI, Staking, NFT Gaming projects I have to keep a close watch on which is doing good and which looks like it’s slowly going to die. Splinterlands was an exception as I enjoy spending 15-20 mins each day to see how my card deck forming strategy compares against the random opponents.

With the introduction of Brawls I have been spending more time on Splinterlands compared to my usual 15 mins a day so I decided I should start tracking the returns more closely.

I used the site Splex.gg which helps you by giving you a $ value of all the rewards you have received during a season including end of season and daily chests you get.

You can see in the snapshot above that that I made about $18 last season but I can clearly see that this estimate is very conservative. Let me take the 6 chaos packs I got which are valued at $2 each. The packs are already worth more in secondary market and their value will keep going up. Another factor which might be a bit misleading is the $0 assigned to Soulbound NFTs. It is true that their market value is $0 as they can’t be sold but it is clear to me that if you don’t collect sufficient number of soulbound NFTs and level them up your deck will get weaker compared to other players. This is because the Shoulbound NFTs specially the Gladius ones are much stronger than other cards. So these soul bound cards might be $0 but the competitive edge you gain from them is huge and will drive how many rewards you are able to get in the future.

So I plan to continue playing throughout the season so I can get my hands on as many Soulbound NFTs as possible.
