Splinterlands | Using Blogging Earnings to Buy More Cards!

Do repost and rate:

Even though I'm not that hyped on Land (See Reasons I'm mostly Skipping The Land Expansion), I am still very much enjoying  as a cards game expanding my collection mostly just because I really want to play with specific cards. I have used Blogging earnings to buy and Level Up These cards...

I have been preaching for years to new players that by far the best way to organically build your collection and increase your earnings in SPLINTERLANDS is to get active writing about the game. While this isn't cut out for everyone, I very much enjoy writing 2 articles each week taking part in some of the challenges that are put up by the team weekly on hive.blog/@splinterlands. These earnings along with what I occasionally get from affiliates really have made a world of difference in the overall cost of the game for me so far.

Along with some Hive I had from the sold GLX Airdrop which I'm getting for having ~117k SPS Staked, I also used quite some DEC I had from rentals and HBD from blogging earnings to re-invest into cards.

These are the cards I got this time around.

Vruz Level 8

Managed to buy 114 Regular Foil Copies of Vruz and 5 Gold Foils with vouchers and I pretty much went in early on buying 106 extra copies to get it to level 8 on my main account. I on average paid somewhere between 0.47$-0.62$ a copy not wanting to take the risk that it would shoot up in price since it's a powerful and fun card of which roughly only 1200 Max Level copies will ever be created.

I really like this card which only costs 2 Mana for great speed, Attack and abilities. It is one of those cards where the difference that you get at level 8 is worth the upgrade going from 1 Melee attack (which is rather worthless) to 2 Melee Attack which is great especially since it easily can be upgraded to 3 melee attack. I had some fun with the card already even though to be fully honest, I have yet to find ways to make it really shine. Right now, it's going for 0.52$ with not that many available which for sure is not cheap for a common card but I see there being demand and use for this card going forward for it to at least hold it's valie

Sthispa Level 4 -> Level 5

In a bit of a reaction to having Vruz at Level 8, I also upgraded my Sthispa from Level 4 to Level 5. I really enjoy the dynamics of playing a high-speed deck and the Phase ability is great for that while at the same time, the number of times when the game rules really allow to play this optimally are limited while especially near the top of the Gold Leaderboard, everyone plays higher speed monsters which reduces the number of times there are actual misses. Anyone with lower speed however tends to stand no chance in these matches. I did buy 12 copies as an average price of somewhere around 2.5$ while right now it's going for 3$+. This more than anything was a fun purchase as I aim to get a speed deck working with this summoner.

Thaddius Brood Level 5 -> Level 6

I already got my Tarsa / Kelya / Obsidian to level 6 and now also have the Thaddius Brood there with just the General Sloan To Go. The gap in some cards between Level 6 - 8 for commons or Level 5-6 for Rare cards is quite big so getting them all to Level 6 will for sure make a difference in my win rate and I'm hoping to compete for a Gold League Leaderboard spot in Wild Going forward.

Windmaster Level 5 -> Level 6

The Water team is a good one for game rules where only Ranged monsters can be used which got me to take some single cards that I owned of the windmaster that I received way back as rewards and level it up to Level 6 which gives 33% Extra life from 3 to 4 allowing it to stay along for longer. These older cards I would say also are quite affordable right now as a level 6 goes for 'only' 25$ right now. I plan to use these in wild league for a long time to come.

Spirit Shaman Level 4 -> Level 5

Being able to get an extra ability especially if it's a powerful one like redemtion really makes cards a lot stronger. I generally was not using the Spirit Shaman that much combined with the Obsidian but this extra ability is the missing link for me and I will be able to use it a lot more from here on out.

Regal Peryton Level 5 -> Level 6

I already used this card a lot having it at level 5 and the extra 1 health isn't that much of a gamechanger on it's own. However, the more you use a card, the more small differences add up over time so I'm glad to have 8 health from here on out instead of 7.

Arkemis The Bear Level 4 -> Level 6

I used this card a lot already at Level 4 in my Water Possibilus deck (See: My Favorite Wild Gold League Water Decks) and the limited benefits of 1 Health, 1 Speed and the Forcefield ability for me never really justified the 10x cost. Since I'm using it a lot and want to get full rewards for using it, I did buy 7 more copies to get it to Level 6 which gives 1 health and 1 Speed extra which will make somewhat of a difference. For now I'm reluctant to buy 11 more copies for the Forcefield ability since I never really play it in 1st place and by the time it gets in the 1st spot it's far less likely to get hit by 5+ damage which gets reduced to 1.

I'm still having a lot of fun playing  and prices right now for cards don't feel overpriced. For those reasons along with the fact that it's just fun collecting more, I continue to buy more cards and level them up to make them stronger. There are still a lot more that I want and my aim is to keep blogging and use those earnings to fund these purchases and upgrades...
