Leading blockchain gaming project, Enjin has launched the Enjin SDK for Godot. This allows any developer of any experience to utilize this SDK to integrate blockchain items into their games. Enjin has been working closely with Godot on this development to showcase what blockchain can do for gaming.

Enjin made the announcement in an official tweet and also gave out details in its blog post.

Godot Engine

The Godot Engine is a cross-platform game engine to create 2D and 3D games. With the tools they provide, users are able to freely create games outside the box. It also facilitates the easy exporting of games to various platforms such as desktops, Android, iOS, and web-based platforms.

Godot is absolutely free and open-sourced under the permissive MIT license. Developers fully own their games without any strings attached. Development on Godot is community-driven which encourages their users to continually break the potentials of what it can achieve. Moreover, it has the support of the Software Freedom Conservancy and is a not-for-profit project.

What Godot has to say

Godot Engine co-founder, Ariel Manzur, spoke on the occasion about the transformative potential for the games market that Enjin SDK brings. He went on to note, “Godot developers are inventive and progressive. I believe they will embrace this technology given the unique opportunities it presents for persistent game design and safe, fair virtual economies.”

Achievements

To remind, Enjin CTO Witek Radomski had created the ERC-1155 token standard which became an official token standard by the Ethereum community last year. And since its adoption, the new token has found acceptance as an upgrade to ERC-20 and ERC-721 standards for blockchain assets.

It is pertinent to note that there has been onboarding of over 3,000 projects who adopted the ERC-1155 token standard. One of the more significant partnerships in this context is Microsoft’s Azure Heroes blockchain-based recognition program. Additionally, Chiliz has teamed up with Enjin to create sports-based NFTs for their partners.

Enjin Mainnet on Ethereum launched this year as well. This has provided the tools for anyone to mint their own blockchain assets for any purpose. In order to mint an asset, the user has to lock Enjin Coin (ENJ) into the asset when it is minted. And over 12.5 million ENJ has been locked into 52 million blockchain assets to date. This amounts to about 1.25% of the total supply of ENJ.

On top of this, the Enjin Wallet has registered some amazing updates this year. Users can now batch send their ERC-1155 tokens. Additionally, they can send and receive funds and assets through the Ethereum name service (ENS) domains. In another update, Enjin rolled out token swaps for all ERC-20 tokens into the wallet feature.

Q2 2020 development roadmap
  • Public release of EnjinCraft (a Minecraft plugin that will allow server owners to implement blockchain economies)
  • Blockchain SDK for Java
  • Enjin Beam (a way of distributing blockchain assets through QR code)

Enjin is continually providing ways for developers to design games with sustainable economies and new revenue streams. This is thus an exciting opportunity for Godot developers to tap into the blockchain space and experience the wonders of it.
