The Coldplay bassist Berryman is one of the several investors supporting the Edinburgh-based fintech startup. According to reports, the startup would enable conventional investors to buy, sell, and exchange both Bitcoin and Etherium cryptocurrencies.

Notable investors in the crypto app besides Berryman include Murray Capital and Scottish Investment Bank, the investment arm of Scottish Enterprise, amongst several others.

Covid-19 has helped promote digital currency

Zumo CEO and founder Nick Jones expressed his enthusiasm for the new project. He noted that the COVID-19 pandemic had significantly contributed to the adoption and growth of the digital currency.

According to him, “Covid-19 has fast-tracked the move to a cashless society and for safe and easy ways to invest in new forms of currency that are more resilient to crises such as this one.”

Additionally, Jones stated that Zumo would enable people to safely exchange, store, send, and use their own money online without needing a bank account. “The mobile app will give complete control to the user over their financial, personal, employment, and genetic data. Zumo offers all the advantages of decentralized technology for clients without any initial problems,” he explained.

Speaking about his investment in Zumo, David Murray, managing director of Murray Capital, stated: “Now is the time to be investing in the technologies that will shape the financial security of future generations.” He also emphasized that the project could ideally bring those with no bank account online.
