Codename: Metaboss, a new strategy MMO that provides a unique twist on non-fungible token (NFT) utility, has officially concluded its first week of competition and opened its OPENSEA storefront with a variety of NFTs available for CHERRY, the games new ERC-20 token.
Before we dive into the available rewards, Metaboss is described as “the world’s first team-based Idle MMO,” according to the website. “Each season, players will create a twelve-week story by participating in two separate weekly phases — Recruitment and The Showdown. Sunday through Wednesday is Recruitment for teams, leaving Thursday through Saturday being The Showdown for strategic play. It’s part strategy game and part collaborative storytelling.”
Metaboss currently supports NFTs from a number of leading blockchain games and platforms, including Neon District, Axie Infinity, Gods Unchained, The Sandbox, SuperRare, Ethereum Name Service and Battle Racers.
Once players join a team, the NFTs in their wallet contribute to the strength of the overall team. The winning team is rewarded with the following:
- FRAGS – A “soft currency” to spend on Metaboss
- CHERRY – An ERC-20 token that can be traded in for additional NFTs
- Trophies – NFTs to show you were on the winning team that week

According to Blockade Games, the team behind Metaboss, the initial distribution of CHERRY, has been sent out to the first week’s winning team and can now be used in the marketplace or swapped for Dai (DAI) directly on Uniswap.
The game’s new marketplace has been populated with donated NFTs from many of the games and platforms supported by Metaboss, including unique digital artwork by Blockade Games’ co-founder Diego Rodriguez, a unique NFT from the popular collection set Avastar and a voucher for a Polyient Games Founder’s Key (PGFK), a new membership NFT that provides lifetime rewards within the Polyient Games Ecosystem.
Metaboss is set to launch its second week of competition next Thursday as Blockade Games looks to tweak gameplay based on user feedback.
